What to Expect with Toyota Veloz's Performance?

When Toyota Motor Philippines unveiled the new Toyota Veloz as a new nameplate, Filipinos were expecting that aside from the aesthetics, the manufacturer would also take a step in upgrading its powertrain system and that it would somehow be more powerful than the Toyota Avanza. Then, Veloz came with almost the same components as the Avanza.

What makes up Toyota Veloz’s powertrain system?

Toyota Veloz carries a 1.5-L 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 1,496 cc displacement, which is the same as the Avanza; aside from that, the engine of the Avanza is diesel-powered. It produces a maximum of 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, which is mated to an automatic transmission and is on a front-wheel-drive configuration.

We know that the 2022 Veloz was the company’s premium entry or an upscaled version of the Avanza. And because of that, it is understandable for the people to expect more in its performance as it is one of the most important deciding factors when getting a car. Although this new Toyota subcompact SUV shares the same engine as the Avanza, it doesn’t mean that it would be a disadvantage for the Veloz.

The Veloz is comfortable to drive and has very light steering making it easy to maneuver. When it comes to power, you could feel that the torque is strongly working even when in a heavy traffic situation. If the Veloz is fully loaded with seven passengers on a city drive, it can still perform and strongly pull the load. However, if the car is fully capacitated to take a long drive, there could be a possible issue with that. Although we can’t be sure, we can’t expect a spectacular and safe long drive with the Veloz’s engine output numbers.

Nevertheless, Toyota Motor Company is the most trusted car manufacturer in the Philippines and the most reliable when it comes to performance and safety as a whole.
