Because of the rapidly growing popularity of crossover SUVs, the competition tightens. This type of car has become the automotive brands’ priority in the market. And because of that, Japanese maker Honda is making sure to get the BR-V in a high spot among the best crossover SUVs internationally. The company then introduced the second-generation Honda BR-V after five years. The new BR-V comes with more impressive updates than the outgoing model. The exterior has been redesigned, as well as the interior. And the upgraded safety and security features are the most sought-after in the new version.
The new-generation Honda BR-V is available in three variants in the Philippines. The Honda BR-V 1.5 Automatic Transmission base variant is priced at Php1,048,000 and is available in Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White, and Platinum White Pearl colors.
The Honda BR-V 1.5 Prestige Automatic Transmission variant is available at Php1,075,000 and comes in two colors – Taffeta White and Modern Steel Metallic.
While the Honda BR-V 1.5 V Automatic Transmission variant is at Php1,168,000 and is available in Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Passion Red Pearl, and Taffeta White colors.
The gasoline-powered engine of the 2022 Honda BR-V is a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC, the same as the Honda City. It puts out 121 horsepower and 145-Newton meters of torque and is paired with an automatic transmission. It sits on top of a Honda Global Small Car Platform and is in a front-engine front-wheel-drive configuration setup.
The all-new Honda BR-V has been redesigned to a more mature look that features a longer and wider hood. It has aggressive dual-level full LED headlamps, which look the same as the Honda Civic. Its daytime running lights are also redesigned and positioned up on top of the headlight and towards the sides. The fog lamps below are more defined because of the black housing, complementing the black air vent grille and body claddings.
Heading to the sides, the wheels are 16-inch alloy rims in chrome and black colors. The side body claddings and the sharp character line that draws from the taillamps to the headlamps dominate the side profile of the new BR-V. The side mirrors are two-toned with a lane-watch camera, and the door handles come the same as the body color.
At the back of the Honda BR-V, the LED brake lights are redesigned and look similar to Honda City. The back also features a rear spoiler, reverse camera, sensors, window defogger, and a shark’s fin antenna on top.
The 2022 Honda BR-V measures 4,453 millimeters long, 1,735 millimeters wide, and 1,666 millimeters tall. The ground clearance is 220 millimeters and the wheelbase is 2,662 millimeters.
The interior has also been redesigned that looks similar to the Honda CR-V. The air vents on the dashboard come in sleek housing shapes. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped with chrome accents and has control buttons for the infotainment system, similar to the Honda CR-V. Behind the steering wheel is the redesigned gauges that now come in a full TFT multi-information display screen. The infotainment system display comes in a 7-inch screen which now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Below the infotainment display is the digital climate control with automatic temperature.
The seats are fabric-covered and bolstered, which provides a more stable and comfortable sitting position, especially for the drivers. The same with the first-row seats, the second-row seats are slide-adjustable to give enough legroom space for the third-row occupants. The BR-V also comes with 12-volt accessory outlets, USB outlets, and cup holders from the front row to the last row for easy access to power.
For cargo space, the BR-V comes with a dual-level cargo cover that can be adjustable when you have longer items. The third-row seats could also be folded to give more space for the cargo.
Honda-made vehicles are one of the most reliable cars in the world when it comes to safety and security. Seven years ago, Honda BR-V was rated 5 stars by the ASEAN NCAP for its safety features. As the years went on, its Japanese manufacturer kept on innovating and improving the safety and security features of the BR-V to become a protective vehicle.
The BR-V comes with Honda Sensing, an anti-lock braking system, emergency stop signal, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, lead car power mitigation parking sensors, door ajar warning, and engine check warning, rear camera, and day and night rearview mirror. It also comes with the standard driver airbag, passenger airbag, seatbelts for every passenger, seat belt warning, child safety locks, front and side-impact beams, hill-start assist, vehicle stability control system, EBD, and a crash sensor for a worry-free ride. It will also make you feel secure because it has power door locks, an anti-theft device, central locking, an anti-theft alarm, and an engine immobilizer.
