Ford Motor Company is using the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) to showcase new versions of its popular models. Such is the case with the 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak and our colleagues from AutoFun Thailand were on hand to take us on a tour.
The new variant bridges the gap between the Ford Ranger Wildtrak and the Ford Ranger Raptor. It is a sportier version of the Wildtrack but gets more features, special deals, and a different interior.
Sportier exterior
Starting with the outside, the 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak has a unique gloss black grille with lights inside close to the C-Clamp LED headlights. It also gets unique decals seen on the rear quarter panels and lower section of the doors.
Aside from this, it also gets 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/55 series tires. These wheels also come with a unique red accent. The 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak also receives a Flexible Rack System (FRS) standard for the pickup truck.
The FRS makes loading things into the vehicle easier with its flexible position and versatility.
Familiar interior
On the inside, the 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrack retains the same layout as the standard Ranger Wildtrak model. However, the new variant gets leather seats with embroidered “Stormtrak” logo.
Aside from the new seats, the cabin of the pickup truck gets a new color scheme for the cabin that comes with red accents.
Like the standard model, the Stormtrak retains a digital instrument cluster and portrait-style infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
New off-road technology
Aside from the minor interior changes, the 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak also gets new equipment under the skin. It receives an e-shifter and the full-time AWD system (with Terrain Management System), a feature not present in the WIldtrak but is available with the Ranger Raptor.
Aside from this, the new Ranger variant also receives intelligent Active Park Assist, which can automatically park the pickup.
Bi-turbo diesel power
Under the hood, the 2023 Ford Range Stormtrak is powered by a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine. It still produces 210 PS and 500 NM of torque. The gearbox is still the same for the pickup truck with a ten-speed automatic available.
Will it come to the Philippines?
The 2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak is the middle variant between the Raptor and the Wildtrak. In the Philippines, the Ranger Raptor has yet to launch. It means the Ranger Stormtrak may have to wait a while before entering the local market.
That being said, Ford Philippines could still bring it in earlier to excite the Ranger Raptor's arrival. Let's see what Ford has in store at MIAS this April.
