It's finally here! Mazda Philippines launches 2024 CX-90 mild-hybrid, starts at P3.68M

Mazda Philippines officially launches the 2024 Mazda CX-90, a seven-seat luxury crossover that is aimed squarely at the likes of BMW and Land Rover.

Mazda Philippines officially launched the 2024 Mazda CX-90 mild-hybrid luxury crossover, the brand’s new flagship model, on Sept. 22, 2023.

Built on the brand’s large product platform, the three-row CX-90 blends performance and refinement into one premium package.

“The first-ever Mazda CX-90 is the pinnacle of Mazda Premium," said Mazda Philippines president and CEO Steven Tan.

"It is our most advanced model ever with exceptional levels of sophistication all throughout that can be enjoyed not just by the driver, but by the whole family,” he added.

Carrying the Mazda handling DNA

As the Mazda CX-90 is one of the largest vehicles the Japanese automaker has in its local lineup, they have given it a new feature called Kinematic Posture Control (KPC).

It suppresses body roll when cornering to provide all occupants with an enhanced feeling of grip and stability.

Mazda has also emphasized optimizing rigidity across the entire vehicle body, designing the seats and suspension to give the driver better balance, control and confidence in various driving conditions.

Hybrid electric power

Under the hood, the all-new 2024 Mazda CX-90 is powered by a new e-Skyactiv-G 3.3-liter inline-6 turbocharged gasoline engine.

It produces 284 PS and 450 Nm of torque using 91 to 95 RON gasoline. As a mild-hybrid vehicle, the all-new CX-90 comes with an integrated electric motor that produces 16.9 PS and 153 Nm of torque that is located between the engine and 8-speed automatic transmission.

The electric motor can directly power the three-row SUV independently from the gasoline engine, delivering smooth acceleration from a standstill and a more refined driving experience.

Mazda Philippines has not officially stated the electric-only range of the vehicle.

However, the new three-row SUV does come with the brand’s Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-DRIVE) system, which gives it four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Off-road and Towing.

The biggest Mazda yet

As the Mazda CX-90 rides on the new Large Platform, it is one of the biggest vehicles the Japanese automaker has released locally.

It measures 5,120 mm long, 1,994 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 3,120mm.

It carries the brand’s "Kodo" design language, giving it sleek curves while maintaining the sharp headlights that the brand is known for. The CX-90 also rides on 21-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with a black metallic finish.

Premium interior

Like its smaller CX-60 sibling, the interior of the CX-90 is filled with soft-touch materials for its dashboard and premium Nappa leather for its power-adjustable seats.

The vehicle also features Leganu suede inserts for that extra luxurious touch.

The Mazda SUV takes its interior design from traditional Japanese aesthetics, giving it a luxurious and comfortable experience from all three rows. Seat ventilation is also available with the vehicle and can be found in the first row to the captain’s seats in the second row.

Aside from its aesthetically pleasing interior, the CX-90 also offers more spacious interior dimensions thanks to its clever seating arrangements.

The CX-90 3.3L AWD Turbo provides seating for up to eight adults in a 2+3+3 seating configuration, while the top-spec CX-90 3.3 AWD HEV Turbo Exclusive offers a six seating configuration (2+2+2).

Worried about access to the third row? Don't be, as Mazda has made it easy with the design of the rear doors, giving you a larger step to make ingress and egress comfortable.

The second row can also be folded with a button for easier access.

The Mazda CX-90 also offers 257 liters of luggage space with all the seats up. However, if you fold the third row, the cargo space increases to 1,163 liters.

With the second and third rows folded, the Mazda SUV has a total cargo capacity of 2,025 liters.

Premium technology

Regarding technology, the Mazda CX-90 comes with three high-definition displays.

The first is a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The second is yet another 12.3-inch display that serves as the digital instrument cluster.

And the final one is a 10.4-inch heads-up display that shows the driver the information he or she needs to know about the vehicle.

Aside from these displays, the SUV also carries a 12-speaker Bose sound system that offers unparalleled audio experience.

Safety

Regarding its safety features, the Mazda CX-90 comes with the full suite of the brand’s i-Activsense safety features.

These include:

  • Front and Rear Smart Brake Support
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Cruising and Traffic Support
  • Adaptive LED Headlamps
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with vehicle exit warning
  • Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Brake Support

It has two variants at the following prices, including a 5-year free service plan:
