From tip to tail: The single line that defines the 2025 Lotus Emeya hyper-GT EV

This one line defines Lotus Car's past and future, expressed in the upcoming Emeya hyper-GT EV.

Lotus Cars made quite an enormous wave at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit on Oct. 19, 2023.

Lotus Cars has long been renowned for its strong design, especially with the likes of the Esprit, Elise and Exige, along with EVs like the Evija hypercar and the Eletre.

The Emeya continues this trend with just one line that runs through the profile of the car, from the tip of the nose to the blade of light integrated into the rear.

Lotus Cars said in an October 2023 press statement that the line “seamlessly recaptures the aesthetic of earlier iconic mid-engined Lotus designs whilst carrying it into the future, emphasising dynamism, continuity and agility.”

“By combining progressive technologies with an aesthetic that draws from the past, Emeya takes us into the future, projecting Lotus into a new segment of the automotive landscape,” said Lotus Cars vice president for design Ben Payne.

Other signature design elements of the Emeya share a clear lineage from the Evija.

These include the eight body vents that ensure air flows through the car to improve performance, battery cooling and range, while creating a striking exterior design.

And because the Emeya is a GT car, it gets a low center of gravity that Lotus Cars calls “hyperstance.” Positioning the battery between the wheels and close to the ground creates a true sports car look with a "cab-forward" silhouette.

The long wheelbase with short overhangs gives the impression that the wheels are at the corners, giving Emeya a more planted, dynamic stance. Bold muscular wheel arches are a Lotus signature that dates back to road and race machines of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Emeya’s road presence is significantly enhanced by ultra-slim daytime running lights (DRL), with the headlamps staying almost hidden in the aperture beneath the DRLs. The hyper EV also features the thinnest LED rear light bar ever seen on any production car.

Cabin from the future

A single blade of light runs around the cabin, creating a cocoon of progressive luxury for all occupants.

Meanwhile, the ultra-thin winglets that flow into the center of the dashboard are a subtle nod to Lotus Cars founder Colin Chapman’s famous passion for reducing weight everywhere, while also highlighting the design team's attention to contemporary craftsmanship.

The Emeya’s interior makes extensive use of durable repurposed fibers and advanced luxury materials, while knurled metal on all interior touchpoints offers luxurious tactility.

Exposed carbon-fiber elements bring the focus back to the brand's illustrious racing heritage, gently reminding occupants that Emeya is a performance car.

The Lotus Emeya was officially revealed In New York on September 2023, with production expected to start around 2024.

Lotus Cars made quite an enormous wave at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit on Oct. 19, 2023. The British carmaker unveiled the fastest dual-motor electric vehicle (EV) in the country – the Lotus Eletre R. Packing 918 PS and 985 Nm of torque, the hyper SUV can outpace the likes of the Lamborghini Urus S and the Aston Martin DBX 707, all while consuming absolutely no fossil fuels. And now, Lotus Cars has revealed more about its upcoming encore – the Emeya hyper-grand tourer EV. Harking
Disclosure: Nissan Philippines kindly lent me a 2023 Nissan Kicks e-POWER VL for seven days. It was delivered with a full tank of fuel and loaded RFID cars. AutoFun Philippines paid for a carwash. Prudence is a virtue that seems to be going the way of the dodo. With social media constantly bombarding us on how we should live (largely from so-called “influencers,” many of whom are able to do what they do because they are “stealth endorsers” who get freebies and perks), thinking things through can
Suzuki Philippines has relocated its Suzuki Auto 3S Shop in Isabela to a more convenient and accessible location within the province. The dealership was originally situated at Km 335 Maharlika Highway, Barangay Batal, in Santiago City. Still, it has now been moved to a more spacious plot of land in Purok 3, Barangay Malapat in Cordon. The relocation effort was a collaboration between the Japanese automaker and ESJAY Auto Group’s Elite North Autocars, Inc. “We have decided to move to a new locati
The 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) had a much more lively atmosphere compared to the one in 2022. Held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from October 19 to 21, 2023, the event had many more visitors who were curious about joining the “electric revolution.” Indeed, it felt more like a smaller version of the annual Manila International Auto Show. This is hardly surprising because the government has granted numerous incentives to EV buyers who want to veer away from ever-ri
The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has officially taken over the distributorship of South Korean car brand KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong. The company announced in an October 2023 press statement that the agreement between the two firms was formalized in the middle of the third quarter of 2023, leading to the establishment of KG Mobility Philippines. "We are optimistic that the local motoring public will respond positively to our portfolio of product offerings, and we are likewise
