Business as usual: Omoda and Jaecoo pay courtesy call to PH Embassy in China

We've written a few stories about the impending arrival of Omoda and Jaecoo in the Philippines. If you haven't heard yet, these two brands are Chery International's latest marques that are part of the group's global expansion efforts.

Both brands are looking at a more mutually beneficial future in their new host country with their lineup of modern offerings, which include electrified options.

On November 4th, a delegation from Omoda and Jaecoo led by Jeff Liu, Chery International General Manager of East Europe and Asia Pacific Region, held a strategic discussion with Philippine Ambassador to China Jaim FlorCruz and Dr. Ceferino S. Rodolfo, Undersecretary of the Departement of Trade and Industry, who was visiting China at that time. 

According to a statement from Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines, the dialogue centered on the development and future plans of both brands in the country, especially as they focus on bringing innovative products and introducing new energy technologies in the Philippines.

DTI USEC Rodolfo acknowledged the determination and actions of the Chery Group and the Omoda and Jaecoo brands in the field of new energy, mentioned the presser. "With
abundant nickel and lithium resources, the Philippines holds a resource advantage for new energy vehicle brands looking to invest and establish manufacturing bases, and will provide corresponding policy support," said Rodolfo.

"We hope to deepen our energy advantages with Omoda and Jaecoo’s expertise in automobile manufacturing to jointly stimulate the robust growth of the new energy vehicle industry,” he added.

Meanwhile, Liu expressed gratitude for the recognition of the Philippine government's representatives. He likewise affirmed the Chery Group's commitment to help work with the Philippines' modernization efforts and thrust towards green mobility.

"We will actively respond to the Philippine government's drive to modernize the
automotive industry and transform green mobility," shared Liu. "We will continue to explore
the implementation of new energy technologies, empower our products with high performance and energy efficiency, adhere to the concept of technology inclusiveness, and create affordable electric vehicles for the people of the Philippines.”

Both Omoda and Jaecoo are set to formally start their sales in early 2024. The Omoda 5 EV, along with ICE and PHEV variants, will be the brand's first offerings. While Jaecoo will bring in the Jaecoo 7 PHEV later in 2024.

With Omoda now present in 15 countries and with Jaecoo likewise setting up shop in various global markets, Chery International claims the brands have already surpassed 130,000 cumulative sales. 

And since Omoda and Jaecoo are coming in through an official subsidiary business being set up by Chery International, employment opportunities are likewise being promoted as the brands are dedicated to nurturing professional talent in the automotive field.
