Vinfast Philippines established a social media presence several months back, and it has been posting regular teasers ever since.

Some of these have led us to believe that the electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam will soon be introducing the Evo 200 e-scooter, which should fetch a price of around ₱46,000.

However, in our recent correspondence with a Vinfast Philippines’ marketing department representative, we received confirmation that Vinfast will finally introduce its line-up in the local market. However, its prices will range from ₱175,000 to ₱235,000.

Vinfast Philippines seems to be setting its sights on the upper to mid-range of the e-scooter market.

Theon on the horizon?

One particular model that falls within that price range is the Vinfast Theon. With 16-inch wheels and a 100-kilometer range, the Theon is designed for distance commuting. It also has an S variant with a longer range of 150 kilometers. One full charge takes around 5.5 to 6 hours.

At 145 kilograms, the Vinfast Theon is rather heavy for an e-scoot, but its weight will contribute to high-speed stability. The Theon, after all, has a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour. Vinfast also did not scrimp on safety, as the Theon comes with dual channel ABS.

Vinfast Philippines has yet to reveal the specific models to be launched locally; thankfully, we don’t have to wait long. We just hope that the Theon is one of the e-scooters that will reach Philippine shores.    

But wait, there’s more!

Initially, Vinfast will focus on e-scooters, but they have plans to launch electric cars in the Philippines by late next year. We have to keep them cagers happy, too, right?
