Ford and Fuel Efficiency may be something that does not go along well together. I my own personal memory, I have seen how our old Ford Escape with a V6 engine gulps gasoline especially in Metro Manila traffic. The new Ford Expedition just does a 5 kilometers per liter on the city and 11 on the highway. And with the continuous increase in gas prices, whew! But since the Ford EcoSport and the Ford Focus, some have already changed their way of looking at Ford’s fuel efficiency. Wait until you see how economical the Ford Territory is.
Based on several tests, on the average, the Ford Territory does pretty well for its size and its power. Around 8-10 kilometers per liter around the city, and of course the number goes up as you go to the highways, at about 15 kilometers per liter. Some say that in heavy traffic, the Territory does 7 kilometers per liter, which is not too bad at all!
Many attribute these figures to the intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control system of the crossover as well as its CVT transmission. These not only help the Territory go longer on the gasoline liter but also provide comfort as the CVT gives a smooth ride and the Adaptive Cruise Control not only works on the highway but surprisingly also on very low speeds. (Imagine being stuck in traffic and the car does the stopping and going for you.)
Comparing the Territory to its competitors as well as other SUVs available in the Philippines, the numbers the Territory did is pretty decent and very comparable. Because of its price point as well as its fuel economy, many people consider the Ford Territory as their first car, or even a daily driver. It has the right balance of power and fuel economy to be on top of anyone’s list.
