The Nissan GT-R is Truly an Immensely Remarkable Car

The Nissan GT-R is a high-performance grand tourer model from the Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Corporation. This sports car is a successor to the high-performance Nissan Skyline GT-R. The CEO of Nissan Motor Corporation, Carlos Ghosn, believes that the Nissan GT-R will be a global icon for their automotive manufacturing company. Not only that Ghosn was right, that the model would be an Icon for Nissan, the GT-R has brought innumerable accolades to Nissan.

Variants

The GT-R was first launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007. After sixteen years, the Nissan GT-R was finally made available in the Philippine automotive market. There are currently two Nissan GT-R variants available in the Philippines. The Nissan GT-R Premium 3.8 V6 Automatic Transmission is priced at Php8,900,000, while the Nissan GT-R Nismo 3.8 V6 Automatic Transmission’s price is available upon request. There are 7 available body-color variants, including the Vibrant Red, Blue Racing, Pearl White, Gun Metallic Gray, Ultimate Silver, Pearl Black, and the model color, Katsura Orange.

Exterior

The Nissan GT-R measures 4,710 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, 1,370 mm high, and 2,780 mm for its wheelbase. The Nissan GT-R Nismo variant is a little shorter which measures 4,690 mm in length. Its face features a big-open grille where the cooling comes through. Over the grille is a GT-R badge. Under the grille vent is a brushed aluminum gap design that makes the GT-R an aggressive-looking grand tourer on the road. On both sides of the grille are the super wide multi-projector LED headlights together with LED daytime running lights, headlight washers, and indicators at the corners of the front bumper. Sculped on its hood are two stylish-looking engine cooling vents that also help in maintaining a well-ventilated engine.

Looking on its sides, a set of 20-inch alloy wheels with semi-sleek SP Sport Max Dunlop tires adds an aggressive character to the GT-R. On both sides, a stylish air vent can also be found with a GT-R badge designed on it. For its door handles, the Nissan GT-R shares the same push and pull kind of door handle Tesla cars have. Located beside the car handles are proximity sensors to lock and unlock the car. At the back, the 2022 design resembles the iconic look of the Nissan GT-R. Attributing to its rear look are the circle-shaped taillights wedged into both of its corners, a GT-R and T-Spec badge located beside the right taillight, and a titanium double exhaust. In addition, the GT-R T-Spec comes with a distinct carbon wing which adds more character to the variant.

Interior

Getting inside the Nissan GT-R, you could feel that the model has been following the succession line. The interior style design feels dated but classic-looking. It is nice that they have classed up the interior of the 2022 GT-R. It doesn’t have all the innovative-looking and fancy interiors its competitors are developing. It showcases classic sports car beauty in modern times, including its analog dashboard gauges. The center console comes in a carbon fiber finish, while grain leather surfaces, stitching, and Alcantara are evident on the dashboard, door trim, and steering wheel, depending on the variant. The overall cabin finish looks and feels sturdy and premium.

The infotainment system comes in an 8-inch display with easy-access shortcut buttons. The infotainment system features built-in satellite navigation, AM and FM radio, CD, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth Connectivity paired with eleven high-quality Bose speakers throughout the cabin. Aside from its entertainment features, the infotainment system displays driving information and a guide. Unlike other car models, the GT-R features an old-school approach to sports car driving more easily and innovatively.

Performance

The Nissan GT-R was the first rear transaxle all-wheel drive in the world. In the country, the GT-R is available in a 3.8-L 6-cylinder V6 automatic transmission with 3,797 cc displacement. It has a capacity of up to 565 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. The GT-R has a promising powertrain component and mechanism, and it reflects in its performance.

Safety and Security

In terms of safety features, the Nissan GT-R offers the industry’s standards, including Anti-Lock Braking System, driver airbag, passenger airbag, front side airbag, side curtains, seat belt warning, height-adjustable front seat belts, rear seat belts, crash sensor, brake assist, door ajar warning, side-impact beams, traction control, front impact beams, engine check warning, vehicle stability control system, EBD, day and night rearview mirror, tire pressure monitor, front and back parking sensors, and rear camera. In addition are the engine immobilizer, anti-theft alarm, power door locks, and central locking security features.

Special Editions

Nissan Motor Corporation has been innovative in producing limited edition GT-Rs. In 2012, Nissan produced the GT-R Egoist as the luxury version of the GT-R, including the GT-R Bolt Edition. In the same year, Nissan also introduced the GT-R Gentleman Edition, available in France and Belgium. A year after, Nissan launched the GT-R Black Edition, which comes with a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and 20-inch RAYS wheels. Also, in 2013, Nissan launched 115 units of the GT-R Midnight Opal Edition and the GT-R Nismo. In 2014, Nissan produced 150 units of the 2-seater GT-R Track Edition. In February 2015, Nissan has manufactured 80 units of the GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition. The Nissan GT-R 50 was introduced in 2019 to celebrate GT-R’s 50th anniversary. The same year, 50 units of the GT-R Naomi Osaka edition were also made available to the market. The GT-R Nismo Special Edition was unveiled on April 15, 2021, for the 2022 model. There is also one of the most sought-after special editions, the GT-R T-Spec, which was made available on September 14, 2021. And the GT-R Predzilla, which was built as a donation to the Nashville Predators Foundation.
