The Ford Explorer is a popular vehicle that helped popularize the term ‘SUV’ and made it into a common acronym in today’s society. The 2022 Explorer is available in eight variants in the US. However, just the 2.3-L EcoBoost Limited variant is available in the Philippines.
The 2022 Ford Explorer carries a 2.3-Liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine powered by gasoline fuel in a 10-speed automatic transmission. It produces an impressive 300 hp and 420 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm. With that powertrain specifications, it should perform wildly on the road for a sport utility vehicle.
One of the first things you would notice when you drive the 2022 Ford Explorer is its steering. It is not as light to handle as the other Ford models like the Ford Everest. The tighter steering feels easier to handle than other lighter steering models making you feel more connected to the car and to the road.
There are people who says that the performance of the 2022 Ford Explorer is below its specifications. And there are others who compliments its powerful performance. Upon test driving, the engine accelerates impressively swift and runs smoothly. There is no indication that its engine is underpowered or weak. However, if the Explorer is fully-loaded, maybe it would have to ramp up its power. There’s a bit of turbo lag, but the car is generally not slow. The performance is satisfying even without the 3.0-liter V6 engine.
There have been a handful of complaints before with the Ford Explorer, and in spite of that, the American-made SUV still makes it to the top of the best-selling cars in the US. Evidently, there are issues in every vehicle, but it doesn’t mean that faults can’t be changed for a better version. And for the 2022 version of the Ford Explorer, the actual performance says a lot about its sophisticated reputation over its flaws.
