Mazda always amazes me with their stunning exterior designs as I have also never seen a model of theirs that isn’t good-looking. I have asked myself before, “Is Mazda a luxury car?” as the brand was already registered as a pretty model in my head. Its car models are always sophisticated and elegant-looking as if they were for executives and celebrities. When I saw the BT-50 pickup truck, it was as good-looking as its other sibling sedan models. I wondered if it can perform beastly like its competitors in the market because its demure looks made me think it can also be a fun car to drive off-road.
The 2022 Mazda BT-50 carries a 3.0-liter diesel-powered engine that is more than sufficient for the vehicle to pull a ton of cargo load on an off-road drive. According to its test drivers, the powertrain performance of the BT-50 is relatively in line with its competitors’ capabilities. Although driving it in the city and off-road are different, you could feel that the power of the torque is striking, which will make you feel excited to rev on the highway.
The acceleration kicks right away without hesitation, and the brakes effectively work, corresponding to the smooth and swift drive. The 6-way manual and automatic transmission also contribute together with its lightly weighted steering wheel to still have the dominance in maneuvering the BT-50. Stability-wise, because of the slightly weighted steering wheel and a not too soft suspension, the stability of this car is considerably nice. Although if the suspension is firm, the riding comfort could be compromised.
Nonetheless, I could say that the Mazda BT-50’s aesthetic beauty coincides with its beautiful powertrain performance. It may be unique and apart from the norms of pickup trucks, it knows how to impress, and wherever you take it will surely serve its purpose.
