2022 Ford Raptor Short Review: The Real Cost of Maintaining a Raptor

The big bronco Ford Raptor is one monster truck built to conquer wild and unevenly unmanageable terrains.

Fact is, this full-size pick-up truck never discriminates, mowing down the known and wildly unknown beaten paths to pica-size with its largely 35-37 inches of raptor-like claws er, set of wheels, an exemplary testimonial to its rugged on-road and off-road-road-hugging capabilities.

But there's one particular element that can tear down the walls of this muscular behemoth to pinto-bean size, so to speak, and that is the weathering nature of wear and tear.

It's just the way it is Georgy boy, so stop complaining and just might as well embrace this sad spectacle as machines do breaks down from the passage of time. (so true)

When that dreaded thing happens though, when that chunk of machine you call your car starts falling achingly to pieces bit by forlornly bit, would you then start to holler like a mad man, or far better than squeal like a pig in agony because you don't have the much-needed dough/money at your disposal for the much badly needed car repairs and of course, that imminent and much depressingly-mundane maintenance cost, you'd have to do from time to time to maintain that heavenly state/bliss of your car tsk tsk. (yikes, looks like you have no choice hah-hah)

But to make things even worse for you, however, was the bad news that yes, maintenance cost does have sky-rocketing consequences in the long run especially when you don't set aside enough of those golden eggs (from your veritable financial-nest-egg) for car repairs and such future exigencies. (that may yet to come)

According to Car Edge.com, the first 10 years of Ford Ranger's serviceability will hover somewhere around the figure of $10,045 for menial repairs and maintenance costs.

Moreover, there's a high probability of 30.63% chance that the Ranger would require a major over-haul during that given time frame as this is 9.13% worse than similar vehicles in the same range.

The chart below offers an illuminating point about how these costs and repair projections will increase over time, as described by the same website.

But from a local perspective, things kind of, tapered down a bit (looks like it?) as Preventive Maintenance (PM) costs flutter between the affordable-the not-so-affordable to are-you-serious-with-this? Er, deal.

According to Car Guide.ph, Ford had thumbed up the green light for car owners by giving them er, a bit of slack, so to speak, as Ford SUVs, pick-up trucks like the ferocious beast, Raptor, other Ranger trims, Wildtrak 4x2, as well as it's other massive counterparts, and all the rest of the herd that is collectively rigged with the 2.0-liter EcoBlue engine (including single/turbo versions) are now covered under the annual PM scheme implemented to reduce the yearly cost of car maintenance.

In a nutshell, all of them roller blades are now tacked up with a discount, a cut of some sort for those car repairs we'd been discussing.

The chart below would give you an idea about what it's like to pay top dollar er, peso, for a quick car fix done in a somewhat Philippine setting.

Moreover, according to the same website, a highly projected overall cost of 10 years of a rigid maintenance service here rounds out to a figure of P 110,260 for 100,000 kilometers, which is kind of laughable, to say the least as one sharp-witted Filipino motorist seem to imply ‘cause according to this horse's mouth, the average Filipino car owner already forks over 20k km per year so that silly 100k km figure for 10 years seems well, quite absurd. The guy has a point. Now, that's what I'm talking about!
