The Honda BR-V is easily one of the best 7-seater crossover in its segment. Hands down, it looks good, it drives well, it's spacious, and it can bring seven people from place to place. It's the ideal Pinoy family car, as we always like to have that extra space in case some members of the extended family visits. Or perhaps, just because. We just like the extra space, for groceries, some errands, the weekend trip, the family outing. Wherever it is, the BR-V commits. It has a 1.5- liter SOHC i-VTEC engine which is paired with the trademark Honda Earth Dreams CVT. Together, the output is about 118 horsepower and 145 Newton meters of torque. It is powerful enough to bring you wherever you want to be, whenever you need to be. But hey, with the rising fuel prices, can the BR-V still commit to bring you anywhere you need to be?
Different tests have shown how fuel efficient the Honda BR-V is, although results vary a bit. In the city, about 10-11 kilometers per liter is recorded, and this can get a little bad as bad as city traffic gets in congested areas in the country. On the highway, fuel economy can go as much as about 19-20 kilometers per liter. Some test even day that it can go up as high as 22 kilometers per liter!
But yeah, these results were not recorded with a packed vehicle. Probably at most with two people and some stuff. What if the BR-V is packed, how efficient (or not) can it be? Apparently this is something that isn't tested yet. Probably BR-V owners can share to us their experiences. Just make sure to manage our own expectations when we go out and bring the whole gang along. Besides, if it's a planned trip, plan for contingency. If you're doing errands often, remove the abubut from the trunk. (Yes, you I meant the extra clothes in a bag you always bring in case of emergency. No, you don't need that beach chair anytime soon. Just bring it when you have to.) Happy driving and always keep safe on the road!
