2022 Chevrolet Tracker: All Things You Must Know About

To conquer the booming industry of subcompact crossover SUVs, American automobile maker Chevrolet introduced a new addition to their line-up – the 2022 Chevrolet Tracker. The Tracker may have a tough journey ahead in persuading the Filipino automotive market as several vehicles in the class are already established and known in the country, but in the past months, since it was introduced locally, it has gained a rapid population which also makes it a tough battle for the older models.

Prices and Colors

The 2022 Chevrolet Tracker is available in two variants in the Philippine market, the Tracker LS and the Tracker LT Redline. The Chevrolet Tracker LS Automatic Transmission base variant is priced at Php1,142,888, while the Chevrolet Tracker LT Redline Automatic Transmission top-of-the-line variant is at Php1,242,888.

It is available in Satin Steel Gray Metallic, Summit White, Agate Red Metallic, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, and Pow Zinga Metallic which is exclusive to the Tracker LS variant.

Powertrain System

The all-new Chevy Tracker carries a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline-powered engine that makes a maximum of 116 horsepower and 175 Newton-meters of torque output mated to a six-speed automatic transmission in a front-wheel-drive configuration. It sits on top of Chevy's GM GEM platform and uses a MacPherson strut and compound crank axle for its suspension setup. The braking power comes from its disc and solid disc brakes for its front and rear.

Exterior

Unlike the exterior trend that runs across different sub-compact SUVs nowadays, the Chevrolet Tracker comes with a shrunken front fascia instead of a lifted one. It features an aggressive-looking LED headlight on each side separated by a massive black air vent grille at the center, topped with the Chevrolet logo badge. The face of the Tracker is adorned with chrome and black details, which give it a sportier appeal. Its top-of-the-line Tracker LT variant gets thin red lining accents situated on different parts of the car, including upfront, which complements the hood that tapers towards the grille.

The side profile of the Chevrolet Tracker features some unique character lines on the doors heading toward the side of the hood. The fenders and side skirts come in black, as well as the roof rails up on top. There are also red lining accents found on the rearview mirrors in the Tracker LT variant, including on its 17-inch black alloy wheels.

At the back, the rear of the 2022 Tracker comes with a basic sub-compact SUV look. It has a rear spoiler and a signal antenna on top, and a visibility wiper on the rear windshield. Its rear lamps are a bit embossed and follow the shape of the headlamps up front. It also comes with red accents found on the Tracker badge for the top-of-the-line variant.

Interior

The interior of the 2022 Chevrolet Tracker gives a somewhat standard yet comfortable cabin finish. It comes with a soft leather-like dashboard surface with red stitching for the top-of-the-line variant with some chrome accents on the door handles, air-con vents, and other points on the panel. Unlike the dashboard surfaces, the steering wheel is wrapped in genuine soft-touch leather with red stitching and a red accent. It also comes with control buttons for easy access for the driver.

Behind the steering wheel is the information cluster with two analog gauges and a chip computer at the middle. At the center of the dashboard, the panel has a responsive and tilted eight-inch Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment Touchscreen, which supports standard connectivity functions, including Apple CarPlay, and doubles as a reverse camera monitor.

The seats are sports seats as Chevrolet calls them, which are comfortable and well-bolstered. The legroom and headroom space are generous even for the second-row passengers. However, air-con vents are located only in the front row. On the other hand, there are USB charging points and cup/bottle holders throughout the entire cabin and a sunroof in the Tracker LT Redline variant.

When the tailgate at the back is opened, 390 liters of cargo space is provided at default, which could be expanded to have around 1,300 liters of cargo space when the back seats are folded to 60:40. Loading heavy cargo wouldn't be that hard as the cargo room floor could be adjusted higher; it also comes with a wall light that could be helpful during the night.

Safety and Security

Both variants come with standard safety and security features, including ABS with EBD, four airbags, and seat belts for all the occupants. It also comes with a vehicle stability control system, rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, low vacuum brake assist, ISOFIX tethers, fading brake assist, panic brake assist, 130-degree reverse camera, hill-start assist, hill-descent assist, enhanced understeer control, traction control, front and side-impact beams, door ajar warning, parking sensors, engine immobilizer, anti-theft device and alarm, power door locks, central locking, rollover mitigation, engine drag control, and torque vectoring through the braking system.
