2023 Honda Accord: More powerful hybrid expected

The all-new 2023 Honda Accord will lose the snout of the current generation and sport a crisper look, according to official photos, ahead of the car's November 2022 launch.

Honda Cars teased on October 2022 the next generation of the popular midsize sedan, which has been a strong seller in the United States for decades. Despite its popularity, the Accord has been selling only around half of what it was able to muster just six years ago. With growing interest in electrification in the US market, Honda might focus on a hybrid offering with the same 204 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine found in the recently launched 2023 Honda CR-V.

The upcoming 11th-generation Honda Accord sports a hexagonal front grill, thin front headlights, and a smaller lower grill opening compared to the current generation.

The 2023 Honda Accord gets thinner taillights with a light strip.

Out back are thin taillights connected by a light strip, which are a departure from the Civic-like boomerang taillights on the 2022 Accord.

Overall, the new Accord's styling is closer to the design language used in the recently unveiled Honda Prologue electric sport-utility vehicle.

Inside, Honda Cars showed off the 2023 Accord's 12.3-inch touchscreen display perched on top of the dashboard. It is the largest-ever touchscreen display in a Honda, so the company claims. It incorporates the car's hybrid monitoring system and Google integration. As you can see, the display shows Google Play Store and Google's voice-activated Assitant built-in. Expect also Google Maps to become standard in the menu.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen sits atop the 2023 Honda Accord's dashboard.

A fully digital gauge cluster also peeks into view from the side.

Although the Japanese carmaker has not yet released the final list of drivetrains, the Accord in the teaser photos is a hybrid model.

With weak demand for sedans and a strong local interest in crossovers and SUVs, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. dropped the 2022 Accord from its line-up in September of this year.

With the rise of big hybrid and EV sedans like the Toyota Camry Hybrid in the Philippines, do you think the Honda Accord should stage an electrified comeback locally?
