Nissan to reveal real-world Max-Out concept EV sports car on Feb. 2

Nissan has started making waves locally by introducing the Kicks e-POWER, an electric crossover with a gasoline generator.

The Japanese carmaker is set to go further in the electric revolution by debuting a concept electric vehicle (EV) on its official YouTube channel on Feb. 2, 2023.

“Join us on February 2 to see what happens when virtual becomes physical,” the company said in the livestream description. “Discover how our latest concept car takes zero-emissions mobility to the max!”

The placeholder photo is of the Nissan Max-Out, a virtual EV that forms part of the company’s Ambition 2030 electrification scheme.

Ambition 2030 involves investing 2 trillion yen (around ₱839 billion, as of press time) over the next five years to launch 23 new electrified models, with 15 being battery EVs.

Nissan also said it wants half of the luxury Infiniti lineup sold worldwide to be electrified by 2030.

Meanwhile, the carmaker is targeting also a lineup of 75 percent electrified vehicles in Europe and 40 percent in the U.S. and China.

3 new EV concepts

Nissan debuted the Max-Out alongside the Hang-Out crossover and the Surf-Out pick-up truck on November 2021.

Aside from its radical, low-slung roadster styling, the Max-Out features dynamic cornering and steering response for a more connected driving experience.

There’s also a full-width screen for the instrument panel, along with a passenger seat that could be stowed for more cargo room.

Nissan said its new EV technology framework for the Max-Out combines "ultra-lightweight" with "ultimate hardware," "minimal components" and "innovative integration of the body, chassis, and battery."

The Japanese carmaker is also developing its own solid-state battery. This uses a solid electrolyte that can not only hold more energy than the liquid in a lithium-ion battery but is also not prone to explosion or fire.

Nissan also announced on January 2023 that it is planning to invest in the upcoming EV brand, which is tentatively named Ampere, of its alliance partner Renault.
