A young and renowned Filipino racer gunning for an international title just got a big backer here in the Philippines.
RSA Motors, the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, announced in a press statement that it has inked a partnership with 19-year-old Eduardo Coseteng, who is the son of Philippine touring car legend Jody Coseteng.
The younger Coseteng is set to compete in the 2023 Team Motopark GT season under Schubert Motorsport, which has been a privateer BMW racing team since it was founded in 1999.
He will race a BMW M4 GT3, a race-prepped version of the BMW M4 high-performance coupe. Pre-season testing will kick off on May 2023 in anticipation of the first race, which is set to take place on June 9 to 11, 2023 at the Hockenheimring in Germany.
“The timing of Eduardo Coseteng's collaboration with RSA Motors couldn't have been more perfect, as more Filipinos are developing a strong interest in motorsports,” said RSA Motors general manager Simeon Policarpio.
“BMW is delighted to foster the passion for this thrilling sport and help grow its fan base,” he added.
RSA Motors carries the initials of Ramon S. Ang, who is also the chair of the San Miguel Corporation conglomerate and a champion racing driver. The billionaire is also planning to put up a race track close to his international airport development in Bulacan.
In spite of Coseteng’s youth, he has considerable experience in motorsports.
He ventured into competitive kart racing at a young age, which soon brought him all over Europe and other parts of the world.
RSA Motors said Coseting set several notable records, including “an unbeaten record in the Macau Karting Grand Prix in 2019 and a Vice Championship at the IAME SEA Series 2017.”
Coseteng secured his inaugural race win on October 2022 at the ROKiT F4 British Championship after competing for two seasons. During his earlier stints, he had achieved one pole position, one podium finish and three fastest laps.
“In his latest triumph, he not only displayed his racing skills, but also demonstrated his unique capability to elevate the status of the Philippines on the world stage,” RSA Motors said.
We wish Eduardo Coseteng all the best as he represents Filipino motorsports on the world stage!
