Watch out Audi, BMW: Mercedes-Benz GLC to launch in the Philippines on June 21

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC made its global debut on June 2022, but now it's on its way to the Philippine market.

This information comes from Mercedes-Benz Philippines, which sent us a launch event invite for the new sport-utility vehicle (SUV) this June 21, 2023.

While its specifications have yet to be fully revealed, we expect it to have more technology than its previous iteration and be more luxurious. It will go against the likes of the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5 in the local market, making for an exciting match-up.

The new Mercedes-Benz SUV will measure 4,716 mm long and 1,640 mm tall. This makes the latest version of the vehicle 60 mm longer, but 4 mm shorter in height.

Its wheelbase has also been lengthened by 15 mm, totaling 2,888 mm. Despite the changes, the German automaker has kept the GLC's width at 1,890 mm.

New exterior styling

Regarding its looks, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC gets a new pair of LED headlights and taillights.

Aside from this, the SUV gets a more aerodynamic roofline with a more swept-back look and a new grille. Depending on the variant that enters the local market, we can expect between 18 to 20-inch wheels.

Like a C-Class

On the inside, the new GLC gets a few design cues from its C-Class sedan counterpart.

It gets a 12.3-inch portrait-style display powered by the latest MBUX infotainment system. It will also likely receive a digital display for the gauge cluster.

The Philippine-spec GLC will likely get interior features like full-leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and ambient lighting.

Likely power options

Under the hood, the local Mercedes-Benz GLC may come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque or a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 197 PS and 440 Nm.

Both of these engine options will be available with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

What do you think of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC? Will it be a hit for the German automaker?
