The 2024 Lexus GX recently made its global debut showcasing its boxier looks and all-new chiseled styling.

The sport-utility vehicle (SUV) also brings more technology, with new convenience and off-road-related features.

We will quickly list a few reasons why the GX could be a great luxury off-roader SUV.

New chassis

When going off-road, it is essential to always have a solid yet flexible chassis to keep wheels on the ground no matter the terrain.

The 2024 Lexus GX has that with its new body-on-frame GA-F platform that it shares with the Lexus LX

It features double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear setup for better off-road flexibility. An adaptive variable suspension system with active dampers is also available for the new SUV.

Aside from that, it carries a new electronic power steering system, which Lexus says will still offer great responsiveness and feeling on-road and off-road.

Twin-turbo power

What is a great suspension setup without enough power to support it?

The 2024 Lexus GX has a new twin-turbo gasoline V6 engine that produces 349 PS and 649 Nm of torque. The new motor is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Locking differentials and more

The Lexus GX includes a full-time four-wheel drive system and a lockable Torsen limited-slip center differential.

It also receives an electronically controlled transfer case that shifts from 4WD-High and 4WD-Low much more quickly than the previous model.

If you want more grip off-road, getting the Overtrail trim will grant you access to a locking rear differential.

The GX also has better approach, break-over and departure angles, with 26 degrees/23 degrees/23 degrees being its respective measurements. It allows the SUV to overcome more obstacles without hitting its bodywork.

Overtrail, the trim to get

Now, if you want the best off-roading capabilities out of the 2024 Lexus GX, then the Ovetrail trim is the one to get.

Aside from a meaner look with its black accents on the fenders and aluminum skid plate, it also receives 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires.

The trim includes crawl control, downhill assist control and a 3D multi-terrain monitor. It also gets an Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that provides additional wheel articulation for better off-road performance.

With such an extensive spec sheet for off-road-related features, the Lexus GX is set to be a great luxury off-roader.
