Facelifted 2024 Honda City Hatchback spotted testing in Thailand; could the Philippines be next?

The updated Honda City sedan and Honda Brio have just launched in the Philippines. At the same time, these new models got substantial updates, with the City getting Honda Sensing and Honda Connect and the Brio getting a new look. But what about the 2024 Honda City hatchback?

However, questions have arisen about the Honda City hatchback as it wasn’t featured during the launch event of its sedan counterpart. We now have a clear idea of why, thanks to photos from Wapcar, Ridebuster, Car2day, and Maek Wongvedchasam. The hatchback is still undergoing testing in Thailand.

While the Honda City hatchback seen in the photos is still wrapped in camouflage for the front and rear, we expect it to receive the same update treatment as its sedan counterpart. It means that the City hatchback will get Honda Sensing as standard and a new front fascia with an updated grille and bumper designs.

Like what is available in the Honda City RS, the hatchback could get advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, lane keep assist and much more.

Under the hood, we can expect to see the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that pushes out 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque for the Philippine market. It will still likely have its CVT, but if Honda chooses to expand its model lineup, we could see a manual version if there is market demand.

There has yet to be any news as to when the Honda City hatchback will debut in the Philippines, but as it still is undergoing testing in Thailand, it may take a couple of months more to reach the local market. Honda Philippines might even expand its variant lineup to include new models.

Should Honda have updated the Honda City hatchback alongside its sedan counterpart?
