More EVs! MG Philippines launches the 2024 MG Marvel R priced at ₱2,588,888 as its second EV model

MG Philippines is on a roll with its lineup of electric vehicles as the British Heritage brand has launched the MG Marvel R alongside the MG4 as its newest electric vehicle (EV) in the country.

While the MG4 is a hatchback, the new Marvel R is a crossover to fit local vehicle trends better. It's the latest lineup of EVs to come from the automaker as it tries to corner the ever-growing market of electrification. 

Futuristic looks

The MG Marvel R has a sleek design and grille-less front fascia like other electric vehicles. It is paired with its angular daytime running lights near the crossover’s hood, with its actual LED headlights positioned in the middle of the bumper. 

It has an athletic side profile with pronounced fender arches and a belt line that extends from the front to the rear of the vehicle. It rides in massive 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 series tires. Unfortunately, it does not come with a spare tire and only has a tire repair kit.

As for the back of the Marvel R, it has a full-width LED taillight and an angular rear bumper to match its overall aesthetics. 

The Marvel R is also a relatively large EV, measuring 4,674 mm long, 1,919 mm wide, and 1,618 mm tall. It also has a wheelbase of 2,804, allowing for more room to be had in the cabin of the crossover. 

Premium interior

Speaking of the vehicle's interior, it comes with a multi-layer dashboard design with a massive 19.8-inch display that acts as the car's infotainment system. Like many other vehicles, it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Don’t let the massive screen fool you, as the Marvel R does come with separate buttons for the automatic dual-zone climate controls. The gauge cluster is also digital, as it has a 12.3-inch display. 

For those wondering about its sound system, the EV comes with an 8-speaker setup.

Its leather seats come with 6-way power-adjustability for the driver and 4-way adjustability for the front passenger. It also has other features, such as an interior air filter and ambient lighting, to add to its premium feel. Aside from its four USB ports, the EV also has a wireless charger to add further convenience. 

Electric power

Powering the MG Marvel R is a 183-horsepower electric motor that produces 255 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 2-speed automatic transmission.

As for its battery pack, the EV comes with a 70 kWh unit, that's good for an estimated 402 kilometers. Charging the vehicle is a breeze as it is equipped with 3-phase AC charging with a Type II port, giving you access to most charging stations in the Philippines. Charging time will take a few hours if you use the AC system, but with the DC charging station, you can expect the times to be much lower.

Pricing and warranty

Like the MG4 EV, the 2024 MG Marvel R comes with a 5-year or 100,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, whichever comes first, and an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for the battery.

As it is only available in one variant, it is priced at ₱2,588,888 for the Alpha model.
