The KYMCO DT X360 adventure scooter series finally gets a bigger, tollway-legal sibling as KYMCO unveils the CV-L6 at EICMA 2023. KYMCO announces that it will be available in the global market by 2024, and we are quite excited to see it plying Philippine roads…or trails.
The KYMCO CV-L6 shares the platform of the widely popular AK 550, making it a potential big hit in the local market. The CV-L6 is powered by a 550.4cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin 8V engine, which produces 39.5 kW and 55 Nm. With it being tollway-legal here, Pinoy adventure riders could go on quick jaunts without having to suffer the terrible traffic conditions within a 100-kilometer radius of the capital.
The CV-L6 uses a new lightweight frame design, which not only allows nimbler handling but also lowers seat height. This makes this maxi scooter more manageable in various riding conditions for a wider range of riders.
Unlike its potential rival, the HondaX-ADV, the CV-L6 is fitted with cast alloy wheels to accommodate tubeless semi-knobby tires. It also sports an upside-down fork at the front and a distinct horizontal single shock at the rear.
Its exposed drive belt is definitely a unique feature, but it might cause some concern for riders who would go off-roading as debris could get caught in the system. The chain drive system found on the KRV Moto 180 would be nice.
KYMCO offers top box and pannier options for the CV-L6 because it is an adventure scoot, after all. Good thing they are easily detachable, so you won’t look like a total poser during your usual coffee shop runs with your buddies.
If ever KYMCO launches the CV-L6 here, the earliest we could expect it to arrive would be the summer of next year. So, you better hold on to your bike budget and don’t go on a year-end splurge yet.
Would you go for an adventure scooter like the KYMCO CV-L6?
A moto-journo who spends most of his time on the saddle unless otherwise saddled with desk work. His curious nature and poor sense of direction often take him on unplanned adventures.
