Aside from introducing the insane Lotus Eletre R, the Autohub Group of Companies formally launched another brand of electric vehicles (EV) at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS).
Company president Willy Tee Ten introduced Segway E-Scooters, which originated from the U.S.-made Segway self-balancing personal transporter. Chinese technology firm Ninebot Inc. bought Segway on April 2015, expanding the company to provide a range of EVs.
Autohub aims to revolutionize the local two-wheeled EV market, amid hopes that the government will slash import duties on e-bikes, similar to what it did for imported four-wheeled EVs under Executive Order No. 12.
Segway E-Scooters is currently accepting reservations for its lineup of three eMopeds, with sales officially starting on January 2024.
Three models available
The first of these trifecta is the Segway N100, with a game-changing price of Php 109,000.
This e-scooter weighs 81 kg, including the 1.73-kWh lithium-ion battery, and has an electric motor producing 2 PS and a strong 100 Nm of torque. Autohub said it has a maximum speed of 60 km/h, along with front and rear disc brakes.
It can be charged from zero to full in 8 to 9 hours during overnight charging, which is when industry experts said the majority of charging occurs for EVs. The N100 has a claimed maximum range of 105 km.
The second eMoped in the range is the Php 125,000 E110L.
This also packs a 1.73-kWh lithium-ion battery mated to an electric motor that pumps out 2.45 PS and 150 Nm of torque. Maximum speed is set at 62 km/h for the 90-kg e-scooter, which also gets front and rear disc brakes.
The E110L has a claimed maximum range of 110 km with identical charging times to the E100.
And finally, the top e-scooter in the Segway lineup is the E300SE.
This gets a pair of 1.73-kWh lithium-ion batteries with its electric motor for a combined output of 11 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Maximum speed is at 105 km/h, with a claimed maximum range of 130 km.
The Segway eMoped E300SE weighs in at 126.2 kg and gets standard front and rear disc brakes.
Which of these Segway E-Scooters would you like to ride for your daily commute?
