We received confirmation from Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) that there will be a new product launching at the Honda Moto Fair on Sept. 23, 2023 at Market! Market! in Taguig City.
As expected, Honda was still tight-lipped as to what model it would be. Our initial guess had been the Giorno+, which was recently launched in Thailand.
The Giorno+ is a retro-styled scooter fitted with a 125cc eSP+ engine, meaning it has four valves to give better performance. The Giorno+ could be Honda’s answer to the widely popular Yamaha Fazzio.
Unfortunately, we have reason to believe it's not going to be the Giorno+.
Based on the chosen venue of the event, it will probably be a model under the 110-to-125cc commuter segment.
If we have to hazard a guess, it’s going to be a toss-up between the Honda Vision and the Honda Lead.
The Vision is propelled by a 109cc air-cooled eSP engine and it runs on a unique 16-inch front and 14-inch rear wheel configuration.
The Lead, on the other hand, has a 124.7cc liquid-cooled eSP+ mill and has 12-inch wheels at the front and 10-inch wheels at the rear. The latter does sound more likely, though, as Honda might be gunning for the Suzuki Burgman Street.
We could also just be deluding ourselves and Honda will just introduce new BeAT color options. In the current local industry climate, you can’t blame a manufacturer for playing it safe.
Which model do you think will be launched on the 23rd of September?
