We all miss the Honda Jazz. Or the Honda Fit, if you're highbrow. Whatever, we talk about the same thing. The same micro-compact hatch from Honda that has been the official vehicle of choice of second-generation Honda boys, the ones that got over the Civic, or those who have not had the chance to own one. Well, you can still own a cool Honda car nowadays that isn't as same vibe as family car as the Honda City, or as pricey as the new Civic. I'm sure, you have heard of the Honda Brio. Yes the Honda Brio, the newer version and not that abomination that should have been rejected before it got to the assembly line.

Anyway, this Honda Brio got some genes of the older generation Honda. Not the actual genes because the City Hatchback is the direct descendant of the Jazz/Fit chassis, but more of the older generation Honda's spunk. Its RS version is one of the best looking of its segment. Even the basic version, the V, or the S, can be a great platform for body kits, some neon lights or just any upgrade you can think of. Under its hood is a 1.2-liter SOHC VTEC engine paired with Earth Dreams CVT or a manual transmission. This engine produces about 89 horsepower and 110 Newton meters of torque. If you think about it, comparing this engine to Toyota's competitor in this segment, the Wigo, the Brio's engine is more powerful by about 23 HP, and only 10 HP less than the engine of the Vios!

Yes, it's all about finding the power to weight ratio, and Brio looks and feels bigger than, say the Wigo, but of course shorter than the compact sedan like the City or Vios. In terms of fuel economy, Honda has also found the sweet spot, and even if the engine of this bad boy is a little bigger than the Wigo, the efficiency is almost the same. The Brio can clock in about 12-14 kilometers per liter when driving in the city, and about 8 kilometers per liter when stuck in stop and go traffic. When unleashed in the highway, it goes for a whopping 22-24 kilometers per liter! Now that's something!

So yes, the Brio is stylish and is fuel efficient, and comes in a very reasonable price point. And yes, despite its size, you can go up to Baguio with ease. My friend's senior parents have bought a Brio for the monthly commute to Baguio, and it never disappoints. Imagine having the right car just for you.
