2022 Ford Ranger Short Review: Is it still a good buy?

Granted, the Ford Ranger was once regarded as one of the most highly-coveted pick-up trucks in America.

The fact is, the said truck's nameplate had been used dozens, if not countless of times on different pick-up truck variants sold by Ford Motors ever since it started its operation worldwide, according to reputable sources.

But lately, though, the Ford Ranger seems to be sluggishly running out of steam, somewhat being bested out from its formerly pristine glory by another reliably top-notch line of pick-up trucks produced across the range, the likes of which were unheard of since the former first debuted as a rather, compactly-blunt pick-up truck, mainly sold in North America in 1982.

According to Cars.USNews.com, Ford Ranger's best-seller status quo has slightly dipped over the years, as the said truck garners a mean score of 7.7 out of 10, as duly ranked recently by the same website.

Facing stiff competition from the likes of Honda Ridgeline; which had outranked the Ranger by a hair's breadth, eventually positioning itself on the number one spot with an average score of 8.3 out of 10, (according to the same website) Chevrolet Colorado, as well as newcomers like the less expensive Ford Maverick, the Ford Ranger has nonetheless,

seen better days than its earlier predecessor, the Ford Courier.

However, other (industry observers) beg to differ though, as they are rather reinterpreting the given murky scenario of Ford Ranger as suffering from a few lapses or two in terms of lackluster sales performance.

According to these observer's point of view, the Ford Ranger's mostly iconic status of being the most "widely-used pick-up truck" in the USA has never waned in the first place, along with its corresponding "appeal" or popularity to the masses because the former still stands out as a competent workhorse that features a wide array of powerful mills, as well as being affordable and superbly dependable brimming with exceptional towing capabilities, wide cargo space, great safety scores, loads of creature comforts plus unique body-styling, according to MotorandWheels.com

Moreover, even the prestigious car giant, Ford Motors, made it certain right from the start, that its superb collection of pick-up trucks from whom the Ford Ranger belongs remains in the limelight, for what it's worth.

Besides, as the company (Ford) may seem to be lately lethargic with keeping tabs on its sedan-hatchback production; to the point of even backing away from manufacturing such types of vehicles, but they sure as hell (ahem! Pardon the expression) are quite adamant about running a tight ship when it comes to "updating" their already existing models much like in the case of the Ford Ranger pick-up trucks but most particularly of the Ford's F-Series pickup, in addition also to focusing all of their collective efforts in refining and building more SUV's and crossovers, according to Reuters.com.

What's more, as advancement in both engineering and technology increases, Ford continues to innovate with the Ford Ranger's aesthetics, giving it a never-before-seen dimension that would startle one's senses, as Ford has done with the irrepressible F-150 Lightning.

As a parting note, let's just say that before the year 2025 rounds up the corner, a new face-lifted version, Ford Ranger EV, (according to TopElectricSUV.com) would usher in, not only to reclaim its stolen thunder (of being a best-seller) but also Ford, as a whole, would surely otherwise, open a new sizzling chapter in the arena of electrified-vehicles than what was previously thought of as becoming a much worthy substitute for the conventional car.

Moreover, the company may have erred in making short-sighted decisions in the past (in seeing the big picture) but at least, in the end, they somehow managed to remain on top of the game while even equipped with a brand-new bag full of tricks or two, isn't that right Georgy boy?
