Maintenance Cost of 2022 Ford Ranger Short Review: Does it hurt your wallet?

There was a time when friends and family would ask me why I bought a Ford. They say, "mahal ang maintenance niyan" (maintaining your Ford will be expensive), or "mahirap humanap ng piyesa" (parts are hard to come by). There were moments when I needed to convince myself why I bought a Ford, as I binge watch Ford vs. Ferrari, looking at that Ford badge on the steering wheel. Maybe they got into my head. Maybe. Maybe? C'mon I sold that Ford. But now, if it had happened now, and I got a brand new model or one that has stood the test of a decade or less (year model 2012 and up), then I shouldn't have complained for the maintenance cost and the parts availability, because Ford has got it all sorted out.

In 2018, Ford has released a program where a PMS or preventive maintenance schedule will be reduced for Ford vehicles from four times a year. The new schedule requires the PMS to be done every 6 months or every 10,000 kilometers racked in the odometer, whichever comes first. This is great news for Ford vehicle owners because it seems the price of PMS – money, and of course, time – is reduced in half, without sacrificing the checking up on the performance of Ford vehicles. This particular PMS schedule has to be availed apparently in a package.

According to computations, a Ford Ranger's cost of maintenance is already reduced by 15%, and if on the average, a five-year PMS schedule would cost an owner about PhP 120,000, in the new scheme it is now about less than a hundred thousand pesos!

So, if you have a Ford Ranger, or any Ford in particular, you not only saved money on maintaining your vehicle when you chose Ford but also time by skipping long queues at the dealership every 3 months or so. Remember that all those talk on how pricey Ford is and the hard-to-find parts and now hooey and a thing of the past, and you can avoid it altogether especially if you maintain your Ranger, because a great and reliable Ford Ranger is a well-maintained Ford Ranger.

Man, I wish I still have that Ford!
