One of Suzuki’s most famous people carriers will soon come with numerous exterior and interior upgrades, but it’s made even better as it will soon boast a mild-hybrid powerplant. Dubbed by Suzuki as the “Smart Hybrid Technology,” it utilizes a K15 engine that’s mated to an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 6Ah 12-volt lithium-ion battery.
Power to the wheels continues to be sent through a 4-speed automatic transmission. Factory rated to put out 104.7 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and torque levels of 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Other features include Idle Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, and Torque Assist.
The Ertiga Hybrid still retains its standard MPV features. Still, the exterior sports numerous upgrades, such as a stylish chrome front grill, automatic projector halogen headlamps, power-folding side view mirrors with turn signals, and LED tail lamps.
Inside, the Ertiga continues to comfortably sit seven persons with an updated gauge panel with wood accents and a more modern infotainment system that will liven up the dominantly black interior. Safety features for the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid include the standard dual airbags, electronic stability program, ABS, and Hill Hold technology.
During the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid unveiling at PIMS, the Japanese automaker has yet to announce its official launch dates and suggested price points.
