Starts at ₱954,000/ ₱98K DP/₱19,573 a month : The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid to launch in the Philippines on Jan. 16

The arrival of the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid signaled the brand’s intentions for joining the electrification bandwagon in the country.

However, at the motor show, Suzuki Philippines did not reveal when they would launch the hybrid multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the country, the number of variants, or its pricing.

But thanks to a recent teaser image released by the automaker, we now know that the new mild-hybrid seven-seater will likely make its Philippine debut on Jan. 16, 2023.

The teaser does not show what they will be revealing, but the distinct silhouette of an MPV is seen on the cut-out portion of a leaf.

If you match this with an image of a normal Suzuki Ertiga, you will see that it fits perfectly, indicating that a new variant of the MPV will be launched.

Details for the local version of the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid have yet to be available. However, we can look at Indonesia and Thailand for clues.

What to expect from the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid

In other markets, the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid has its 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve K15B four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery pack.

This mild hybrid setup gives it a total system output of 105 PS and 138 Nm of torque. The MPV is still front-wheel drive, sending power to the wheels through either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The manual gearbox has yet to be confirmed for the Philippine market.

The Suzuki hybrid MPV also comes with the brand’s Smart Hybrid System suite of fuel-saving technologies.

These include an automatic start/stop feature while idling, regenerative braking that recharges the lithium-ion battery pack, and a torque-assist system that gives the vehicle better acceleration while under load.

Our colleagues from AutoFun Indonesia were also able to test the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid and revealed that it could do 22.5 km/ on the highway.

A sporty hybrid!?

Based on what we saw at PIMS 2022, the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid will have a sportier exterior.

This is evident in the new bumpers, body kit, and spoiler found on the vehicle. It will also come with a new grille, dual-tone alloy wheels, and “Hybrid” badging.

On the inside, we can expect the same cabin layout as the regular model with a restyled instrument panel, a new multi-info display, new fabric seats and trim, and a digital air-conditioning system.
