Peugeot Philippines showcased its entry into the electric revolution at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

The French carmaker previewed the Peugeot e-2008, a battery-electric version of the 2008 crossover, on April 13, 2023.

“The Peugeot e-2008 is intended to give our customers a preview of the future with Peugeot," said Peugeot Philippines brand head Maricar Parco in a speech.

"It is a symbol of our goal to give as many people as possible access to electrified mobility,” she added.

Although final specifications have not yet been released, the e-2008 has a claimed maximum range of about 380 kilometers on a single full charge.

It takes 50 minutes for it to reach from 0 to 80 percent battery charge using a 50-kWh fast charger.

The e-2008 is one of the models under Peugeot's electrification plan, which involves bringing new models and technologies to its vehicle range. It also fulfills its goal of having an electric version of every vehicle in 2023.

“Our goal is to provide more sustainable mobility options for our customers and exceed their expectations, a key element of the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan," said Stellantis chief operating officer for ASEAN and General Distributors Daniel Gonzalez in a speech at MIAS 2023.

"We aim to become an industry leader in the fight against climate change, achieve net zero carbon emissions globally by 2038 and introduce more than 75 BEVs by 2030," he added.

Cheaper 3008, 5008 variant

Peugeot Philippines also unveiled a lower-priced variant of its 3008 and 5008 crossovers – the Active.

"The two variants come with their own character and persona, so that our discerning Filipino customers will have a wider selection of Peugeot vehicles to choose from to find the best match for their lifestyle needs,” Parco said.

The Allure remains the top-grade variant of the 3008 and 5008. The Active variant delivers the same performance from the 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine as Allure, but with varying design elements and amenities at a more accessible price point.

The Peugeot 3008 Active costs ₱2,090,000, while the Peugeot 5008 Active is ₱2,275,000.

Test-drive a Peugeot at MIAS 2023

Peugeot Philippines said test drives of the regular 2008, the 3008 and the 5008 are available at MIAS 2023.

And for those who reserve a Peugeot at the show, the company is offering additional discounts on top of current promo offers. Low-interest financing plans are also offered in partnership with Security Bank.

New vehicles purchased will come with one-year free emergency roadside assistance supported by Ibero Asistencia, a global provider of roadside assistance services.
