Confirmed for June 2023! Updated Nissan Almera launched in Thailand with new face, more tech

The Nissan Almera has gotten a new look, which made its ASEAN debut on May 11, 2023, in Thailand.

Our friends from AutoFun Thailand confirmed from the Nissan Thailand managing director that the facelifted Almera will be exported to other ASEAN markets, including the Philippines, starting June 2023.

Nissan Thailand said the Almera comes in four variants: E, EL, V, and VL.

Up front, the subcompact sedan adopts the massive grill of its American sibling, the Nissan Versa. These include horizontal slats that extend into the lower bumper, further accentuating the pointed headlights and V-Motion design language.

The side profile remains identical to the pre-facelift Almera, although Thailand's Ignite and Ultimate Packages include a special body kit.

The rear end remains largely the same, except for the addition of a faux diffuser.

Gray Sky Pearl is a new color for the subcompact sedan, with a two-tone black roof available with selected colors for the VL variant.

Revised interior, same engine

Step inside the updated Almera, and you get something rather interesting – swaths of light blue on the dashboard and door cards for the V and VL models.

Meanwhile, the Almera is now available with wireless charging and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the hood still resides the Almera’s turbocharged 1.0-liter, twin-cam, 12-valve inline-3 gasoline engine pumping out 100 PS and 152 Nm of torque. This is mated to a continuously variable transmission.

For the Thai market, the Almera also comes with Idling Stop that turns off the engine when the car is stationary for some time. Nissan Thailand claims a combined fuel consumption of 23 km/l.

Comprehensive safety pack

The revised Almera likewise features the latest version of Nissan’s 360 Safety Shield.

Apart from tire pressure monitoring, the pack includes active-safety systems like:

  • Lane Departure Warning

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert

  • Intelligent Around View Monitoring

  • Moving Object Detection

  • Intelligent Forward Collision Warning

  • Blind Spot Warning

  • Hill Start Assist

In addition, Thai-market Almeras come with NissanConnect Services, which allows owners to remotely control and communicate with their cars using their smartphones.

“This app also helps keep the vehicle ready for any journey thanks to the intelligent remote control for several commands, namely remote door lock, remote engine start, and remote horn and lights to help you find your car in crowded parking,” Nissan Thailand said in a press statement.

“My Car Finder is a useful feature that helps search for the car location and guide the owner to the car,” the company added.

An SOS button, meanwhile, allows owners in distress to get instant contact with Nissan’s emergency support center through the in-car audio system.
