Wagon with 200-mm ground clearance: 2024 Subaru Levorg Layback officially debuts

Subaru Japan officially launched the Subaru Levorg Layback, a high-riding version of the wagon.

Subaru Japan has done something interesting with its Subaru Levorg by releasing the Layback model, a high-riding version of the vehicle.

The Layback has a 55-mm lift over the regular Levorg, increasing its total ground clearance to 200 mm. Currently, the model is only available in the Land of the Rising Sun, but hopefully, it will make its way to other markets soon.

Sleeker styling

On the outside, the Subaru Levorg Layback has less angular styling than its lower-riding sibling, going for a slimmer appearance with its reshaped bumpers and body cladding.

Aside from this, the Layback also gets a new grille and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

The vehicle is also 15 mm longer, 25 mm wider and 70 mm taller than the standard model.

However, if you want to style up the Levorg Layback, Subaru Japan offers a body kit for the vehicle, giving it a sportier touch.

Under the hood, the Subaru Levorg Layback still caries a 1.8-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine that's good for 177 PS and 300 Nm of torque. This is mated to a continuously variable transmission and the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Wagon practicality

On the inside, the Subaru Levorg Layback retains much of the creature comforts of the standard model with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting and a Harman Kardon speaker system.

It also has a generous amount of cargo space at 561 liters with the rear seats up.

As for its safety features, it carries Subaru’s latest version of its Eye-Sight safety system. It grants the vehicle access to automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

Will it come to the Philippines?

There is yet to be word if Subaru Philippines will bring in the Levorg Layback.

However, if it were to bring it in, the Levorg Layback would slot in between the recently launched Subaru Crosstrek and the Subaru Legacy Outback in the brand’s local lineup.

It would also be an exciting addition, providing a more affordable option to those who want something like the Subaru WRX Wagon, but with a less sporty exterior.
