BMW Philippines has just launched the all-new 2023 BMW 7 Series into the country and has made it available with a new electric vehicle (EV) variant called the i7.
The new luxury sedan serves as the automaker’s continued plan to introduce more EV models into the country to become a more eco-friendly automaker.
Unlike the previous iteration of the BMW 7 Series, this new G70 model receives a boxier design. It also has a unique split headlight derived from the refreshed BMW X7.
The sedan is also larger than before, as it now measures 5391mm long, 1950mm wide, 1544mm tall, and has a 3,215mm wheelbase.
Aside from this, the new 7 Series now has a more imposing look thanks to its larger kidney grilles and heavily redesigned LED headlights. The luxury sedan receives thin LED daytime running lights as part of its lighting system.
At the back, the 2023 BMW 7 Series receives a pair of wraparound LED tail lights, a new bumper, and exhaust finishers tucked under the vehicle for its gasoline version.
Regarding its wheels, the 735i gets 19-inch alloys, while the all-electric i7 model receives bigger 21-inch wheels.
Luxurious interior
Inside, the 2023 BMW 7 Series has a luxurious interior highlighted by two digital displays. The first is a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, while the second is a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
As for its climate controls, the 7 Series gets a touch-sensitive bar that manages its cooling and heating settings.
Thanks to a lack of physical buttons, BMW was able to maximize its Live Cockpit Plus screens and hide the air vents of the sedan to give it a more sophisticated look.
Aside from this, the 2023 BMW 7 Series gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a charging pad. It also receives four-zone climate control, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, BMW intelligent voice control, a fixed panoramic glass, the Touch Control control system, heated and ventilated seats, power-adjustable front/rear seats, and electronically-adjustable roller sun blinds.
Turbo and electrified power
Under the hood, the 2023 BMW 7 Series packs a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six gasoline engine that is available in the 735i Excellence model.
Aside from that, it also comes with a 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) system that gives the full-size sedan 286 PS along with 425 Nm of torque. The hybrid system alone provides up to 200 Nm of extra pull and 12 PS while under load. This also allows the 735i to sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
Power from the hybrid system is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission
For better ride and handling, the 7 series has an adaptive two-axle air suspension system with an automatic self-leveling system and an adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers.
The i7
For those who want the electric version of the BMW 7 Series, the i7 is there to answer that call.
It has the same design as the regular model and even sports a luxurious interior. However, it does not come with an internal combustion engine. It is powered by a pair of electric motors placed at each axle.
The new variant, the i7 xDrive60, produces 544 PS and 745 Nm of torque and benefits from all-wheel drive.
It has a 101.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that allows a range of up to 590 to 625 km on a full charge.
The sedan can do a 0 - 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds thanks to the electric motors.
To help owners charge their vehicles, each i7 comes with a BMW i-Wallbox charging system. It's rated to charge the i7 up to 11 kW and comes with an intelligent battery management system to ensure the battery's health is up to standards.
As for warranty, the i7 is covered by a 5-year BMW factory warranty, an 8-year high-voltage battery warranty, and a 6-year BMW Service Inclusive warranty. Meanwhile, the 735i Pure Excellence has a 5-year BMW factory warranty.
Something to note is that the i7 is only available at BMW Libis in Quezon City and RSA Motors in Greenhills, San Juan.
