GAC Motor Philippines is looking to expand its local lineup of vehicles by bringing in its Aion sub-brand for electric vehicles (EV).
The Aion brand is under the GAC New Energy division and was formally founded as a brand in 2020. Its first model to hit the market was the Aion S, shown at the Auto Guangzhou motor show.
Aion has six electric vehicles available in the Chinese market: the Aion S, Aion S Plus, Aion LX Plus, Aion V Plus, Aion Y Plus and its performance EV, the Aion Hyper SSR.
We don’t quite know what vehicle GAC Motor Philippines would bring in as their first EV into the country. But given the market trends, it will likely be a crossover or an SUV like the LX Plus, V Plus and Y.
The Aion LX is a midsize crossover EV introduced in 2019.
It has a lithium-ion battery pack that gives the vehicle from 600 to 1,008 km of range, depending on the version GAC Motor Philippines brings in.
As for its dimensions, the LX is 4,835 mm long, 1,935 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The brand’s website says it can hit 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a maximum output of 482 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.
The Aion V Plus
The Aion V Plus is a compact crossover EV in the compact crossover segment.
Like its bigger brother, it offers seating for five and is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack. It was revealed in 2020, making it a reasonably new model.
Depending on the variant, it has a range of from 400 to 600 km and has about 241 horsepower under the hood.
The Aion Y Plus
Rounding off the possible EV options that GAC Motor Philippines might bring soon is the Aion Y Plus or the AION Younger.
Depending on the variant, it has around 430 to 610 km of range and is equipped with the brand’s latest lithium-ion battery technology.
It is 4,535 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, making it a perfect fit for the subcompact or compact crossover segment. As for its power, it has around 200 horsepower power on tap, along with 225 Nm of torque.
Which Aion model do you think GAC Motor Philippines would bring into the country soon?
