Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is on a campaign to reimagine itself for the future, focusing on electric vehicle (EV) technology. The British brand is investing £15 billion in new facilities and technologies, preparing for the momentous shift.

While the Land Rover side of the company is gearing up with electric and hybrid versions of its popular nameplates, the Jaguar side also has something interesting waiting.

JLR has announced it will launch the first of three reimagined luxury Jaguars, beginning with a 4-door GT model built in West Midlands, UK. The British automaker says it will be the most powerful electric model yet and come with a range of up to 700 km. It will reportedly come with an indicative pricing of £100,000. 

The new model will also ride on its unique architecture named JEA. Jaguar keeps other details about the new 4-door a secret as it plans to reveal more information to the public later this year. The new vehicle is set to go on sale in selected markets by 2024, with client deliveries expected sometime in 2025. 

“We have radically reimagined Jaguar as a modern luxury brand. The key to Jaguar’s transformation is that the designs convey that they are a copy of nothing,” said Professor Gerry McGovern OBE.

The Reimagine Strategy

The move for electrification is all part of the brand’s Reimagine strategy, which will reposition the company as an electric-first modern luxury carmaker by 2030. It also coincides with the brand’s financial goals of achieving a net cash-positive position by FY25 and double-digit EBIT by 2026. 

JLR is also catching up on lost time as it is ramping up its production of its popular models, such as the Range Rover family of vehicles and the Defender family, where there is record demand. 

“Today I am proud to announce we are accelerating our electrification path, making one of our UK plants
and our next-generation medium-size luxury SUV architecture fully electric. This investment enables us to deliver our modern luxury electric future, developing new skills, and reaffirming our commitment to be carbon net zero by 2039.”
