I initially had a chance to ride the new Yamaha Mio Gravis in a small test ride area right after its public launch. Immediately, I was impressed with its refinement, peppy throttle response, and surgically precise handling. Such attributes easily justify the Mio Gravis’ rather steep price tag of ₱93,900. In fact, I was so smitten with the Mio Gravis that I was among the first to ask Yamaha Motor Philippines for a loaner unit. After spending a couple of weeks riding it in the real world, I discov

Why summertime is called “riding season” is beyond me. Personally, I think the best time to ride is between September and February when we have milder and cooler weather. While motorcycle riding for some is a matter of choice, it is a matter of necessity for others. So if you have to ride under the sun, remember to keep hydrated to avoid health concerns. We highly recommend to always bring one of those thermal steel water bottles that are all the rage these days. Just say no to single-use plasti

With its relatively hefty dimensions and subdued styling, you could still refer to the new Yamaha Mio Gravis as a mini NMAX. Though, the aesthetic updates on the front made it more akin to the Mio Aerox in my opinion. In which case, the new Mio Gravis does have quite a commanding presence for a modest 125cc scooter and that, for me, is an excellent selling point. It has nothing to do with vanity (weh?). The more noticeable you are to other motorists, the safer you are on the road. Same same, but

We can always rely on Yamaha to develop exciting new technological features for their popular scooter line-up. The most recent one they have introduced is the Yamaha Lean Light Assist (Y-LLA) function which can be found on their latest offering, the Augur. Launched in Taiwan a week ago, the Augur is dubbed Yamaha Taiwan’s “smart flagship scooter.” The front features tri-spoke LED running lights that give it a distinct character. A unique feature of the Augur is the compact projector-type headlam

Among Honda’s exhibits at the recently held Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2023 in Tokyo was the Honda SC e: electric scooter concept. Like the EM1 e:, which is currently available in European markets, the SC e: features removable/swappable battery packs to power its electric motor. Honda might still make some changes to other functions of the SC e: since it is still in its concept st

After its initial introduction on September 2023, the Honda Motocompacto finally made its debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. Undeniably, it is the electric-powered reincarnation of Honda’s 50cc, two-stroke foldable mini scooter, the Motocompo. This was sold as an accessory option for Honda automobiles (City and Today) back in the early '80s. While both were designed to fit in most trunk spaces, the Motocompo was marketed as a spare vehicle, while the Motocompacto is presented as a m

We Filipinos, at least based on my observation, don’t like to walk. Hence, the propagation of those ubiquitous tricycles that ferry passengers on their last mile (or first mile) journey. Whether you are going to the bus stop or just on your way to the neighborhood market, the so-called King of TODA (Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association) will literally pick you up from your doorstep so you can travel the short distance with relative ease. However, there is another three-wheeler in the trans
