As Kia pursues to give a twist to the 2022 Carnival, the automotive company names a vehicle class intended for it – Grand Utility Vehicle (GUV). It is a seven-seater premium vehicle that has the height of an SUV with a diverse look across different vehicle classes. It has impressed several countries across the world, including the Philippines because of its tremendous outcome. It primarily aims to provide the utmost comfort while showcasing the beauty of modern times.
Prices and Colors
The 2022 Kia Carnival comes in four variants in the Philippines. The base variant Kia Carnival 2.2 EX 7-seater Automatic Transmission is available at Php2,540,000, while Php2,550,000 for its Snow White Pearl color variant. On the other hand, the Kia Carnival 2.2 SX 7-seater Automatic Transmission top-of-the-line variant is priced at Php2,988,000 while Php2,998,000 for its Snow White Pearl color variant.
There are three colors available for the 2022 Kia Carnival, the Aurora Black Pearl, Astra Blue, and its premium color Snow White Pearl.
Powertrain
The 2022 Carnival belongs to the premium category and it shares some powertrain components with the 2022 Kia Sorento, including chassis. It is powered by a 2.2-Liter four-cylinder turbocharge diesel-powered engine that produces a maximum output of 199 horsepower and 441-Newton meters of torque mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Exterior
Kia takes the exterior of the Carnival to the next level of modernity as it features a wide air vent grille that is very stylish and sophisticated-looking accompanied by attractive daytime running lights on each side. The sleek and aggressive-looking LED headlights complement the slightly sloping hood with the new Kia logo on top. On the side, the profile has a clean look with minimal details that serve as accents, like the textured chrome piece on the c-pillar and below. The wheels are 19-inch two-tone alloy wrapped in 55 series tires. On the other hand, the back profile has a straightforward appeal that features a thick accent light bar that runs across the entire width of the Carnival topped with the Kia logo at the center, in line with the brake lights on each side. The turn signal lights and reverse lights are surprisingly found at the bottom.
Interior
Getting inside the cabin, you would be greeted by a slightly similar dashboard to the Sorento. However, one of the most noticeable differences is the instrument cluster. It comes with a monochrome instrument cluster, while the Sorento comes with a massive digital information screen.
It can accommodate up to seven occupants in its space-generous cabin. It also features two captain seats that fully recline in the second row which gives a premium comfort to the passengers. There are USB ports and cup/bottle holders around the cabin that can be used by all the passengers, including the third-row occupants.
At the back, when you open the power tailgate, a 1,000-liter default cargo space is provided and is expandable to 2,000 liters when you fold down the third-row seats, which is more than enough to load your family’s vacation luggage.
Safety and Security
For a premium vehicle like the Kia Carnival, the utmost safety and security features are present. It comes with standard features like child safety locks, driver airbag, front passenger airbag, side airbag, rear airbag, driver seat belt, front passenger seat belt, rear passenger seat belt, and seat belt warning.
