Hyundai China has revealed official images of the upcoming Hyundai Mufasa ahead of its debut at Auto Shanghai 2023.
The South Korean manufacturer is keen on building hype for its newest crossover.
Beijing Hyundai posted images of the car on the Chinese social media network Weibo, revealing the new vehicle's styling.
It takes on much of the same styling choices as its brother, the Hyundai Tucson, with its massive grille and layered headlight design. It also sports angular cuts and creases, indicative of newer Hyundai models.
Specifications for the Hyundai Mufasa have yet to be officially revealed.
But based on reports from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the crossover is set to be 4,475mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,665mm tall.
It will have a wheelbase of around 2,680 mm and weigh approximately 1,486 kg.
Engine options are not yet finalized, but it could have a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with around 160 PS. Like many modern crossovers, the Hyundai Mufasa is front-wheel drive.
Other drivetrain options for the crossover could be a mild-hybrid system, but the exact power figures are still being determined.
Regarding its competition, the Mufasa could go against the likes of the Ford Territory and Kia Sportage, as it is similar in size.
It is important to note that only the exterior of the Hyundai Mufasa was revealed. This indicates that the Chinese arm of the South Korean automaker wants to keep the rest of the car a secret until its official reveal.
After its first public appearance in the metal at Auto Shanghai 2023, the Mufasa is set to go on sale shortly after.
There has yet to be a word if Hyundai will bring the new model into international markets, but it could be a possibility for the Philippine market in the future.
Should Hyundai Philippines introduce the Mufasa locally?
