EXCLUSIVE: Is Geely Philippines planning to bring in the Geometry C EV?

Geely Philippines recently posted a photo of their new Vice President for Vehicle Sales and Flagship Dealerships Reggie See.

While it was a momentous occasion for the Chinese automaker to have a new executive that brings a wealth of experience to the brand, the vehicle that he posed with got us thinking.

First, the shape of the car didn’t appear to match any vehicle locally. Next was the color option, which, yet again, was not available in the Philippine market.

The closest color would be the Light Blue of the Geely Coolray or the color of the Emgrand, which was still a few hues off from the vehicle in the photo.

We also looked at the dashboard of the vehicle for clues. It had a small display behind the steering wheel and a massive infotainment system in the center.

With these distinguishing features, we compared it with the vehicles available on the brand’s global website to see which car had the closest interior.

What could the car be?

We made sure to double-check the interior shots of all locally available models in the country to ensure none matched the photo.

We looked at the Geely Coolray, which had a completely different dashboard layout, and the Geely Okavango, which yet again did not match.

We also checked out the Geely GX3 Pro, which was the brand's latest release at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show. But it didn't match either.

We scoured the Geely global website, searching through interior photos to find a car that matches the part of the dashboard shown in the image.

Eventually, we discovered that it was the cabin of the Geely Geometry C electric vehicle (EV).

It has the same small screen right behind the steering wheel and the same massive infotainment system. The color of the Geometry C on the Geely website also matched the one that Reggie See was posing with.

What could it mean?

For those who don’t know, the Geely Geometry C is the brand’s latest electric vehicle and comes in the shape of a crossover.

It has a range of around 460 kilometers, thanks to its 70-kWh battery pack. It also packs features like adaptive cruise control, fast charging, lane keep assist and blind spot detection, just to name a few.

While nothing is confirmed yet, it could mean that Geely Philippines is interested in bringing an EV to the local market, with the Geometry C being the most likely candidate.

The image of Reggie See could be the brand’s subtle way of hinting at its next possible vehicle to launch in the country soon.

However, take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet and Geely Philippines has yet to release an official statement.

Should Geely Philippines bring in the Geometry C for the local market?
