Mitsubishi Motors Philippines subtly hints at the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV launch as soon as the Japanese automaker brings it out for display at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
We have seen this vehicle at the brand's 60th Anniversary Expo event, displayed in one corner of the event hall. However, no specifications or key features were shown, unlike how the vehicle was displayed at the EV summit.
The Japanese brand subtly teased its key specifications with signboards, hiding important information in plain sight.
The signs reveal that the local version of the Outlander will have around 56 km of electric-only range and a total driving range of 640 km, which is decent considering the competition from new Chinese entries to the market.
The signs also showcase the Outlander PHEV’s vehicle-to-home capabilities, which can power your home’s basic electric requirements for approximately 12 days. However, the estimate applies to households consuming around 10kWh of electricity daily.
The booth also highlights its three drive modes: EV Mode, Parallel Hybrid Mode, and Series Hybrid Mode.
EV mode allows the car to run purely off its battery pack and on electricity.
Series Hybrid Mode uses the vehicle’s two electric motors with the assistance of the engine in cases where more power is needed, such as in acceleration or uphill.
On the other hand, the Parallel Hybrid Mode uses the car's internal combustion engine to become its main power source with the assistance of the electric motors when necessary.
There is no word yet as to when Mitsubishi Philippines will launch the new Outlander, but if we give a guess, it might launch sometime in November with a price point of around ₱2.5 million.
