The Mitsubishi Strada is a mid-size, body on frame pickup, which
marks Mitsubishi Motor Philippines’ (MMPC) entry in the mid-size pickup
truck segment. Currently on its third generation, it’s one of the more
popular pickup choices. Having already established its quality and
capability through different model changes. The current generation
Mitsubishi Strada generates power through a 2.4-liter, inline-4 turbo
diesel engine that's capable of making up to 179 horsepower and 430 Nm
of torque. Transmission choices are between a five-speed manual gearbox
or a six-speed automatic. The Mitsubishi Strada's price range starts at
₱1,293,000 for the entry level Strada GLS 2.4 4x2 MT and ₱1,818,000 for
the Strada Athlete 2.4 4x4 AT as the top-spec variant. Mitsubishi Motors
Philippines recently launched the Mitsubishi Strada GLS Ralliart
Edition with Ralliart exterior enhancements that’s priced at ₱1,429,000.
History
The Mitsubishi Triton (also known as the L200 Strada or Strada Triton) is a pickup truck manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. The first generation of Mitsubishi pickup trucks started with the Mitsubishi Forte in 1978 until the end of 1986. In Japan, the Forte was initially sold with the 4G32 1.6L engine producing 92 PS (68 kW). The second generation Triton was introduced in 1987. In Japan this car was only resold in 1991.
This car continued to be produced until 1996. In 1996, the third generation Triton model was launched with a 2.5L engine producing 103 hp. This Triton model is the first to enter the Indonesian market under the name L200 Strada. This fourth generation Triton just appeared in 2008 with the name Strada Triton. Designed by Akinori Nakanishi and for the 5th generation, In 2014, Mitsubishi launched the new Triton which went on sale mid 2015 (Asia Pacific) and late 2015 (Europe). The Mitsubishi Strada was launched on January 26, 2019, with a new face. The pickup now features Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design language. It also now comes with a new 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine.
Launch
Prominently incorporating Mitsubishi’s Shield Design Language, the Mitsubishi Strada was launched on January 26, 2019. The Strada generates power through a new 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine. The redesign of the new body also came with a new pair of projector headlights and foglamps. It features the main projector LED headlights positioned up top with the signal lights placed at the bottom.
Another variant was also added to the Strada line-up on March of 2020, This is the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete which is a dressed-up pickup with limited paint options that’s available in 4x4 and 4x2 capability. During the 2022 Philippine International Motorshow, Mitsubishi launched the Strada GLS Ralliart variant. Aside from being equipped with genuine Ralliart exterior enhancements, it also comes with limited edition paint colors.
