The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton is one of the most highly awaited models to come to the Philippines.
The all-new pick-up truck serves as the successor to the venerable Mitsubishi Strada and will continue the long-time rivalry against the popular but aging Toyota Hilux. And you can reserve one right now, according to Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC).
The Japanese carmaker announced in an October 2023 press statement that it is accepting pre-orders for the Triton, which will make its official launch on January 2024. MMPC said exclusive promos and prices will be offered to “early birds” who reserve from Oct. 20, 2023 to Jan. 25, 2024.
The company also released the SRPs for the seven Triton variants. These include:
GL 2WD MT – Php 1,134,000
GL 4WD MT – Php 1,157,000
GLX 2WD MT – Php 1,311,000
GLX 2WD AT – Php 1,383,000
GLX 4WD MT – Php 1,561,000
GLS 2WD AT – Php 1,582,000
Athlete 4WD AT – Php 1,915,000
All-new 2.4 turbodiesel
Besides the all-new exterior and interior styling, the biggest news from the MMPC Triton preview on Oct. 20, 2023 is the availability of a new engine.
As with other markets, the Triton for the Philippines will get a new 2.4-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 turbodiesel engine pumping out 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. This will most likely be put into the flagship Athlete variant, which means it gets a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Meanwhile, the other variants will get a detuned version of the 2.4 that produces a healthy 183 PS and 430 Nm of torque. This will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
MMPC also outlined other key details of the 2024 Triton – such as the larger cargo bed that is 2,340 mm long, 1,580 mm wide and 515 mm tall, with a lower bed height of 821 mm.
The all-new pick-up truck will also come with a bevy of active safety features, such as Forward Collision Mitigation with pedestrian and object detection.
The top-spec Triton Athlete adds Rear Cross Traffic Alert that informs the driver via visual and audible warnings if an approaching vehicle is detected when reversing, along with a Multi-Around View Monitor.
