Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corporation (SGAP), the official importer and distributor of Geely in the Philippines, said in a February 2023 press statement that it opened an in-mall dealership at Ayala Malls the 30th.
This is the second in-mall showroom that the Chinese car brand has set up, following the opening of the SM Taytay branch in Rizal in 2022.
The company said the Ayala Malls dealer will be managed by Geely Makati, which is directly owned by SGAP. It can accommodate up to five display units and handle test drives.
“The goal remains the same this 2023 when it comes to reaching out more to our customers whether the addition of new outlets or adding in-mall stores in shopping malls such as this Ayala Malls the 30th,” said SGAP president and CEO Yugo Kiyofuji.
“As we continuously plan to bring the attractive models, we would like to make sure that Geely will be more and more accessible to people who want to see and experience our vehicles for themselves,” he added.
Geely has been in the Philippines since September 2019, starting out with the turbocharged Coolray subcompact crossover.
It has launched three more models, including the Emgrand sedan, the Azkarra crossover and the Okavango multi-purpose vehicle.
The company released its first-ever car in 1998 and has expanded greatly by buying up established foreign brands.
Geely owns Swedish carmaker Volvo, British sports car manufacturer Lotus, Malaysian car company Proton, and American personal transport company Terrafugia.
It is also collaborating with Daimler AG to produce hybrid and electric vehicles under the Smart car brand.
