People buying cars would consider many factors – the looks, practicality, reliability, and of course fuel consumption, but the last criterion does not matter at all when buying a Honda Civic Type R.
If you are looking to buy this beautiful monstrosity of a road machine, fuel consumption is supposed to be the last thing on your mind. Anyway, since fuel price figures are always up while many things like your crypto stock are plummeting, this question’s relevance needs a quick rethinking. Okay, yeah, it is relevant and we need to answer it.

So what exactly is the Honda Civic Type R’s fuel economy figures?
To understand this conundrum, we have to look again at the Type R’s engine and transmission which is miles different from the ordinary Civic. The Type R has a 2.0 VTEC Turbo engine which produces a whopping 400 Newton meters of torque and 306 horsepower of pure excitement and adrenaline. This is paired to a 6-Speed Manual Transmission which is said to be a delight when you short shift. The Rev-Match Control System also makes you feel like a true racer. (I just have to say this, don’t race on the road; go to your nearest track to test your car’s capability.)
Going back, the engine gulps the fuel and transforms it to sheer joy and adrenaline. And what does it cost? Different reviews show that the fuel economy of the Type R. Some say that a typical everyday drive can range from 7 to 10 kilometers per liter, while in heavy traffic, it can sip as much gasoline and only produce about 4 to 5 kilometers per liter. Meanwhile in typical highway conditions, the fuel economy figures give about 18 kilometers per liter. Now before you write a cheque for PhP 3.2 million, (Does anyone still write a cheque, or do we just use mobile bank transfers? Anyway…) you have to consider that these fuel economy figures were taken when the Civic was drove economically and not on walwal or track mode. That is something yet to be tested, but if you have, please share on our comments section what your fuel economy figures are.
