The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) - distributors of both Chevrolet and MG brands in the Philippines- has finally set the record straight regarding its vehicles' fuel efficiency.
In a recently conducted fuel economy run, approved and recorded by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the Chevrolet Tracker and the All-New Chevrolet Trailblazer, along with the MG 5 Sedan Alpha, all posted 20-kilometer per liter runs.
Chevy Tracker: A rewarding drive
With its 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder ECOTEC turbocharged gasoline engine, the Tracker Crossover SUV bested the whole lineup with an impressive 25.05 km/l consumption over the 263.3-kilometer test course that ran from Clark to TPLEX Rosario exit and back. At the same time, the MG 5 Sedan Alpha posted a 20.20 km/l result.
The All-New Chevrolet Trailblazer compact SUV netted a 20.87 km/l figure with its GM E-Turbo 1.3L DOHC Turbocharged engine lightweight CVT. Even with an output of 155 hp and 236 Nm of torque, the Trailblazer proved to be as efficient as it is powerful.
Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of Chevrolet Philippines, reinforces that both Chevy models are viable choices in a market that has been severely affected by the ongoing fuel price fluctuations. “We are glad to offer fuel-efficient products in the Chevrolet line-up with the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and Tracker,” says Atty. Arcilla. “These globally recognized SUVs have attained exemplary results from the recent AAP fuel economy run. This further underscores our message that the Tracker and Trailblazer are smart choices in the crossover and compact SUV segments.”
MG makes good
Not to be outdone, the MG lineup included in the Fuel Economy Run likewise turned in decent results:

As a value-for-money proposition, MG offers cars and SUVs which have proven to be “responsible purchases,” considering vehicles fitted with similar convenience, comfort, and safety features usually command higher prices. Atty. Arcilla concurrently heads MG Philippines. “Our MG cars and SUVs feature top-notch tech and safety features, space, comfort, and easy drivability, and are given support by innovative aftersales services from our dealership network, of which we have 42 dealers nationwide.” According to Atty. Arcilla, the fuel economy result from the AAP-supervised test can now be added as another reason to choose an MG.
The AAP Fuel Economy Run mimicked real-world driving conditions, which included normal usage of air-conditioning, rolling up of windows, keeping within regulated road speed limits, and with tires pumped to factory-recommended pressure. The activity was conducted on public roads, and drivers strictly followed all traffic laws and regulations. No extreme “hypermiling” driving techniques, such as drafting or slipstreaming, were employed to augment the fuel efficiency ratings during the drive.
Now that you know what numbers Chevrolet and MG sales consultants will use the next time you ask about their cars’ fuel consumption, will you consider buying them for your next ride?
