Honda Cars dealerships in Japan are no longer accept orders for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R FL5 because of issues with production and limited unit allocation.
Honda Motor in Japan has also released an official announcement informing its customers that it has suspended orders for the Civic Type R to allow the company to fulfill existing orders. However, it is essential to note that this suspension is only temporary.
The Japanese automaker also said it is difficult to forecast its production numbers in light of COVID-19 infections, the semiconductor parts shortage, unpredictable logistics and an unstable supply of parts.

Possibly a long wait ahead
Japanese motoring website BestCarWeb also reported that the Japanese automaker has over 20,000 outstanding orders for the all-new Civic Type R.
With Honda only being able to produce around 400 of these units a month, it would take roughly 50 months or one year and two months to complete this backlog.
However, if the parts supply situation improves, we could see Honda ramp up production of the Civic Type R and the wait time for these units to go down significantly in the next few months.
Supply issues in the Philippines
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R was launched in the Philippines on January 2023 with its 39-unit allocation already claimed by early-bird buyers.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) is facing a similar situation as its mother brand in Japan. Aside from delivery delays with the Honda HR-V crossover, there are plenty of orders for the Civic Type R in the country.
The situation has become so dire that bidding wars have ensued over the new hot hatchback at certain dealerships for the initial batch of units.
However, HCPI has stepped in and released an official statement condemning these actions, assuring its customers that a second batch is coming to the Philippines.
How many units will be in that second batch has yet to be determined.
