GAC Philippines officially launched the 2024 GAC GS3 Emzoom on June 30, 2023 as part of its growing crossover lineup.
It's the brand’s fourth vehicle to launch in the country, showcasing its plans for expansion and growth in the local market.
The new GS3 Emzoom brings the brand’s latest design language, modern features and advanced driver aids. The Philippines is also one of the first few markets outside of China to get first dibs on the crossover.
The GAC GS3 Emzoom brings angles and aggression to the styling table as it has many sharp creases and edges all over the front of the crossover.
Its large, muscular, slatted grille and the sharp LED headlights highlight its aggressive stance.
The GS and GB will have 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 series rubber. Meanwhile, the top-spec GL gets segment-first 19-inch alloy wheels with 225/45 series tires and pinstripe contrast colors.
On the side, you get a gently sloping roofline with a blacked-out C-pillar and electric folding door handles for that premium touch.
At the back, the angles continue with the crossover's sharp LED taillights and angular tailgate, which is fully electric in the GL model.
Modern minimalist interior
Inside, the GS3 has a modern, sleek cabin with three available color combinations: Blue and Black, Green and Beige, and Caramel Brown.
These color options give the crossover a more youthful and bright interior. As for its seating materials, the GS gets cloth seats, while the GL and GB models receive the leather treatment.
The GS3 Emzoom also comes with an air vent in the GB and GL for the second row to help quickly cool the car.
You are also looking at a decent amount of cargo space at the back, as the crossover has 341 liters to store whatever items you need. The space increases further when you fold the second row, revealing 1,271 liters of cargo room.
Digital displays
The GAC GS3 Emzoom packs some serious technology as the crossover has two digital displays.
The first is a 7-inch display that functions as your digital gauge cluster, while the second is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, like the rest of the GAC lineup, Android Auto is unavailable, but there is Android phone mirroring.
Meanwhile, iPhone users will be happy as it comes standard with Apple CarPlay, with the GL model getting a wireless smartphone charger.
Snap and crackle with turbo power
Under the hood, the GAC GS3 Emzoom is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine that produces 176 PS and 270 Nm of torque.
This is mated to a 7-speed, wet-type, dual-clutch transmission.
If these power figures aren’t enticing enough, the GS3 Emzoom also gets a special exhaust system that produces subtle pops and crackles similar to what is found in the top-spec GAC Empow.
However, this feature is only available in the top-spec GL model.
An advanced set of safety features
The all-new GAC GS3 Emzoom raises the bar for safety in its segment, putting it at par with the more expensive Honda HR-V with its standard Honda SENSING active-safety system.
As standard, all models have the following safety features:
Dual front airbags
Dual front-side airbags
Side curtain airbags
Electronic stability program
Tire pressure monitoring system
ISOFIX anchors
However, the GL model gets these additional advanced safety features:
Adaptive Cruise Control and Integrated Cruise Assist
Automatic Emergency Braking
Forward Collision Warning
Traffic Sign Recognition System
Traffic Jam Assist
High Beam Assist
Intelligent Speed Limit Control
Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning
Pricing
GAC Philippines had revealed the pricing for the all-new GS3 Emzoom earlier in the month, but here is a quick recap of its introductory prices:
GS – ₱998,000
GB – ₱1,098,000
GL – ₱1,198,000
This puts the new GAC crossover in direct competition with the Geely Coolray, MG ZS T and the Changan CS35 Plus, making for an interesting fight in the subcompact crossover segment.
