When we talk about pickup trucks, it is very unlikely for us not to have a picture of Ford pickup trucks in mind as the company is known for its off-road monster pickups. The Ford Raptor is one of the most popular in the class for the past few years because of its muscular build and beasty performance. In the Philippines, the Raptor is commonly seen as a customized pickup truck and brought as a part of the fashion statement of celebrities and car enthusiasts.
Powertrain
The 2022 Ford Raptor is available in the Philippines in one variant – the Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0-Liter Bi-Turbo 4x4, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It produces a maximum of 210 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 500-Newton meters of torque at 1,750 rpm output and is in a 4x4 drivetrain configuration. It uses a double-wishbone for the suspension and discs for the brakes. Truly, Ford Raptor is crafted to perform with enormous power fit for off-road driving and rough adventures.
Exterior
Ford Raptor takes the lead on the road with its intimidating build and aggressive-looking exterior. The front fascia features a dominant brand name on top of the massive air vent grille which is an exclusive look for the Ford Raptor. On the sides are the C-shaped LED Matrix headlights with daytime running lights located, which have an automatic dynamic leveling for a consistent illuminance on the road. Below the air vent grille, a slightly redesigned front bumper and a skid plate add a dynamic to the face of the new Raptor. The LED foglamps on each side are still present without taking too much attention unless turned on.
There are also functional air vents on the hood and at the sides of the car. The two-toned side mirrors are power folding and have 360-degree cameras attached for additional driving assistance. The black fenders on the wheel arches are still present from the previous Raptor, where the 17-inch alloy wheels are in. To help get in the Raptor, Ford also added cast aluminum side steps for easy access to and from the cabin. The character lines are also redesigned to a sportier appeal than the outgoing version, and it also comes with side rails to easily tie cargo.
The taillamps are still LED-lit and have a redesigned shape to come with a more compact look. The Precision Gray rear bumper comes with an integrated running board for a more off-road-ready finish, and it also has a new Ranger stamping engraved on the tailgate. The rear profile also features a dual exhaust pipe located at the leftmost and rightmost part of the Raptor.
Interior
The cabin can accommodate up to five sitting adults on its new jet-inspired sports seats in black leather trim with Code Orange accents. The accent color is also seen on the redesigned dashboard and leather steering wheel. Behind the steering wheel is a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster matched with a 12-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment display that is in Ford SYNC 4A connectivity and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The audio is transmitted to 10 Bang & Olufsen speakers around the cabin.
