Want a Geely GX3 Pro? Here's what to expect from this potential Toyota Raize rival

It has been a while since Geely Philippines launched an all-new model.
However, the automaker made quite a splash by previewing a new crossover in the form of the Geely GX3 Pro at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
Geely said it is only a preview to “test the waters” to see if the Philippine market will be interested in its new subcompact crossover. That said, here is what you can expect to have if you want to get the new GX3 Pro.
A tried and tested model

It has been on sale since 2017 and has received multiple upgrades with its most recent iteration, displayed at MIAS, is a fresher look. The GX3 Pro may be a seasoned veteran, but sales are going strong in other markets.
If its interior also looks familiar to you, it is because it is similar in design to that of the Emgrand. The dashboard, the button layout and even the gauge cluster are similar to what you could see in the Geely sedan.
1.5-liter Emgrand power

Under the hood, you can expect a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine that produces 103 PS and 141 Nm of torque.
This is mated to either a continuously variable transmission with eight simulated gears or a 5-speed manual transmission.
More importantly, if it officially launches in the country, it will be the second vehicle in the local Geely lineup with a 4-cylinder engine. As a fun fact, its engine code is 4G15, similar to what is available in the Emgrand.
No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

Based on the specifications available on display at the Geely booth in MIAS, the Geely GX3 Pro appears not to have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto available.
These features are necessary for the crossover to take on its rivals, the Toyota Raize and the Kia Stonic, as both have it available as standard.
However, you can expect the Geely GX3 Pro to have Bluetooth connectivity and a third-party mirror app. Like its rivals, it also has a reverse camera, reverse sensors and cruise control available.

The cargo space of the Geely GX3 Pro is deceiving when you see it in person.
You would assume that it wouldn’t have much trunk space, but according to the spec sheet available at the booth, the Geely GX3 Pro has 400 liters worth of space at the back of the rear seats.
It beats out the likes of the Toyota Raize, which only has about a 369-liter cargo area behind the rear seats. It also beats out the Kia Stonic, which has 352 liters.
Competitive pricing
Geely Philippines hasn’t revealed the official pricing yet for the Geely GX3 Pro.
Still, we talked to sources with knowledge about the company's plans, but don't have the authority to speak publicly.
They said if the public likes the GX3 Pro, the new crossover would be positioned in the ₱700,000 to ₱1,000,000 range for both of its available variants.
Geely is still finalizing the variants' names, so the S and Comfort designations on the spec sheet displayed at the booth may change once it officially launches.
