According to one reputable automotive website, Vehq.com, diesel-engine powered vehicles cost more to maintain in the long run, than your typical gasoline-fueled car because the former requires more routine periodic maintenance in addition to having to pay for expensive parts in cases where malfunctioning car parts need to be replaced.

Be that as it may, however, this puff of news comes as soothing as a breath of otherwise, fresh mountain air, especially to would-be car owners of one Ford Territory, largely in part because the said car has a powertrain configuration of a 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline engine that spurts 141 hp and 225 Nm of torque.  

In addition to being a 5-door compact crossover SUV produced by Ford through the JMC joint venture in China way back in 2018, the Ford Territory is just one of the few latest offerings being introduced into the country by Ford Philippines wherein the former made its local debut in August 2020.

Since the Ford Territory is still relatively new to the local automotive scene, it had not yet established a reputation for providing exemplary riding performance but surprisingly, a great number of Filipino car aficionados were already enamored of the car's exceptional performance on the road thanks to some wonderfully informative and pleasantly amusing YouTube videos posted by the two Filipino dynamic duos known in the car blog circle simply as RiT. (Riding in Tandem).

However, we won't go into great detail about the general features of the aforementioned car; instead, we'll only focus sharply on one crucial aspect namely the car's maintenance, and how this bodes well with other cars' maintenance costs, say a Toyota Rush's upkeep.

For the record, however, the information we are about to disclose to the readers about the Ford Territory's maintenance costs is solely based on our own "projections," which means that it is not the "official" PMS (Preventive Maintenance Schedule) that Ford Philippines has yet to make public as of this writing.

According to Wheels. ph, the good news is that Ford Philippines (FP), in an official statement, stated that "future Ford Territory car owners" will ultimately benefit from the "decreased service maintenance expenses" with a once-a-year scheduled service interval.

A piece of great news perhaps, to the latter who had recently bought a Territory but similar to what we'd earlier mentioned, however, FP hasn't yet produced an official PMS, therefore, we have to wait until they release this official PMS data for the public's notice.

The reader would, however, be interested to know that there is a wealth of information available from other "reliable" sources that pinpoint how to keep the cost of owning a brand-new Ford Territory in the long run and which, in particular, car owners, can greatly use as a guide concerning the upkeep of their vehicle.

Moreover, the cost of car maintenance varies from country to country. Such as the case in Australia, for example, where the cost of basic maintenance and repairs for a Ford Territory vehicle differs from one auto repair shop to another.

According to AutoGuru.com, the cost of maintenance upkeep say, for a 2015 Ford Territory vehicle model in this country that had logged in an average of 15000 km on the odometer over a year (12-month period) was approximately $168.00.

That given figure (168) roughly translates to an approximate P 9,338.36 in the Philippine currency, which is kind of way too high (isn't that right Georgy boy?) if one considers that a 2022 Ford Ranger that had driven 20000 km over two years (24 month period) was only about P8,130.00, based on the most recent 2022 Ford Ranger 2.0L 4x4 AT-Raptor Basic Period Maintenance Schedule (PMS) chart.

But even Ford Ranger's two years' worth of PMS cost pales in comparison, however, when pitted against Toyota Rush's upkeep.

Meanwhile, the cost of maintaining a Toyota Rush justly falls under a meager P2,900.00 for 15000 km, which is a lot more value for your money, in terms of scrimping on your budget especially for other car-related issues like fuel cost, according to the most recent Toyota PMS chart culled from Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) that was released by TimeAttackManila.com.

Finally, we reiterate that there has been no official announcement on the timing of the public release of the most recent PMS chart for the Ford Territory.

We'd just have to keep our fingers crossed, hope, and pray that future PMS costs hit rock bottom, no? 

Most assuredly by then, we'd all breathe a collective sigh of relief as in ahhh.. a slurp of fresh mountain air, hah-hah.
